CAD ManagerWhat part will you play?Part of the Engineering Team, the CAD Manager is responsible for both managing/overseeing the CAD Drafting team. This includes architectural details and related infrastructure information packages to convey system design intent to a wide variety of stakeholders in our projects. The CAD Manager will work independently to coordinate all CAD documentation details and deliverables as well as maintain local CAD schedule. The CAD Manager will also be responsible for training and mentoring drafters. The CAD Manager will attend scheduled meetings with Engineering Management when needed and be able to communicate precisely with upper management when needed. The CAD Manager will possess a high level of ownership in this role to ensure all deliverables are met as well as 85% CAD staff utilization. What will you be doing?Manages a set team of CAD drafters, coordinates workloads and resolves conflictsTrains and mentors CAD staff, maintains standards and consistenciesIs the key point of contact for the local engineering manager, as well as Enterprise CAD manager and oversees all CAD activity in the region. Facilitates communication globally in the Collaboration Matrix Team.Assists all drafters with CAD reviews and markups. Maintains quality control in the region to global standards.Support and maintain Diversified drawing standards Utilize and contribute to centralized block library Provide schedule projections and regular status reports Coordinate delivery and receipt of CAD deliverables Works with Unified Resource leaders to load balance resources and projectsParticipate in continuing education to stay current with AutoCAD and Revit features and techniques. Assisting in developing and driving CAD standards throughout the company.Complexity:There is a wide range of complexity and independence in this role. The CAD Manager needs to be able to communicate instructions accurately to the CAD team and track progress and deliverables on a daily basis. The CAD Manager works at a higher level of collaboration with the engineers to complete the drawing packages on time and within budget. This position has a high level of interaction with higher level management. The management aspect of this role also requires people management skills.Metrics:Maintain a CAD staff billable utilization of >85% Maintain an error rate of less than 5% on all review drawing packagesPhysical Working Environment:Predominantly a desk job working behind a computer. While performing the duties of the job, the employee spends <20% of the time on their feet & more than 80% sitting. The individual is regularly required to use their hands to finger keyboard and mouse. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth vision.What do we require from you?Education/Certifications:A minimum of 5 years in a previous AVE CAD roleFormal training in AutoCAD requiredAudio visual industry experience requiredUnderstanding Revit is a plusManagement training a plusRequired/Desired Knowledge, Experience and Skills:Well-developed sense of urgency and ability to function in a fast-paced environment, delivering drawings with speed and accuracy Fluent in use of AutoCAD, all current versions Basic working knowledge of Revit Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to work well with others remotely via video and audio conferencingHigh level of attention to detailKnowledge of audio, video and related technology and how it integrates into architectureArchitectural design knowledge, including basic understanding of Floor Plans, Reflected Ceiling Plans, Elevations, Sections, Details, etc. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products Good time management skills and ability to handle time deadline pressures.Good people and leadership skills with the ability to train others
