Description

Assists and coordinates all building operational/custodial work while maintaining the established quality standards, safe operations, and complete regulatory compliance by training, assisting management, evaluating, and motivating assigned personnel in their work. The Lead Custodian will receive general or specific directions from the Supervisor and ensures that the tasks are completed. The Lead Custodian will follow all operational standards set forth by DFS.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:

• Thorough knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, and supplies in small scale Janitorial activities of the service.
• Good communication skills Completing tasks from start to finish
• Strong follow-through on delegated tasks and assignments
• Ability to operate and use tools/equipment for training purposes.
• Ability to maintain cleaning equipment/machinery
• Ability to make the most efficient use of personnel as instructed, can delegate tasks and assignments
• Ability to assist supervisor in educating/training employees
• Considerable knowledge of employee policies and procedures
• Ability to follow instructions and utilize written communication
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Ability to work effectively independently or with a team
• Basic knowledge of general housekeeping methods and practices, cleaning products and use

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Vacuuming, sweeping and mopping of flooring of assigned areas
• Collect trash and replace garbage liners, clean garbage receptacles as necessary
• Dusting and cleaning of ticket and gate counters and surrounding area
• Vacuum all associated carpeted areas and mop hard floor areas
• Wash, disinfect, and restock all restroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, paper and soap dispensers as required
• Perform and/or report minor maintenance repairs and any damages
• Assures proper labeling, dilution and use of all chemicals
• Enforce Personal Protective Equipment is used by the staff at all times.
• Assist Custodial Supervisor in daily operations of facility
• Assist Custodial Supervisor in inspecting each area on a regular basis and follow ups of other employees
• Work with Custodial Supervisor in maintaining good rapport between the custodial staff and other building staff
• Lead the custodial operation in the absence of the Custodial Supervisor
• Perform other duties as assigned by Custodial Supervisor

Physical Demands:The Lead Custodian position is a physically demanding position. The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, lifting heavy objects operating medium weight cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, sweeping and mopping floors.
