District Doughnut is Hiring a Pastry/Prep Cook Near Washington, DC

Overview: This culinary-educated team member will train under French-trained Executive Pastry Chef, Christine. In addition to performing standard dough prep, glaze prep, making fillings, baking, and decorating, this position will also support innovation and creative collaboration to contribute to long-term product development. This team member will cross-train across all shifts to learn and understand full scope of daily production.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Dough rolling, and cutting, and development
  • Read and follow recipes to accurately measure and mix ingredients to produce our delicious doughnuts.
  • Use weight measurement equipment accurately and consistently for the precise scaling of dough.
  • Responsible for the consistent rolling and cutting of all doughnuts.
  • Responsible for quality-checking dough formed and cut.
  • Doughnut decorating and finishing
  • Consistently scale and prep fillings and toppings.
  • Fry and finish doughnuts with uniform consistency.
  • Ensure the accuracy, quality and consistency of the products made.
  • Maintain kitchen work areas and utensils in clean and orderly condition.
  • Communicate with team members to produce effective work results.
  • Maintain Refrigerator and Freezer Temperature Logs.
  • Work with Executive Pastry Chef on product development and testing.
  • As a member of an evolving kitchen environment, you will be expected and encouraged to offer any suggestions of improvement.
  • Other tasks as needs arise.

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday & Weekends and Holidays. Morning shift (6AM-2PM). Maximum of 40 hours per week, with exception to special events where Overtime may be needed.

  • Have a passion for pastry!
  • Must have a Culinary or Pastry Arts Degree from an established culinary school or equivalent years of experience as a Pastry Cook or Pastry Chef.
  • Must be 18 years or older and able to work in the US.
  • Must be able to lift, handle, move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position during an 8-10-hour shift.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays and special occasions (according to business demand).
