Job Summary:

The System Administrator (SA) will be responsible for the system level agreements (SLAs) and in maintaining the backup recovery, testing DR plans bi-annually, and performing day-to-day administration tasks. SA is accountable for setting up Splunk Forwarders, monitoring Linux systems, and performing disaster recovery (DR) and backup activities. SA will work with the Information System Security (ISS) personnel create system boundaries, collect, and manage asset inventories, and create, update, and manage system interconnection/information, sharing and managing asset inventories. SA will provide technical analysis and remediation support services to SOs and Tech leads to address vulnerabilities discovered on public-facing websites. SA will be responsible for providing governance and assist security officers (SO) with System Categorization. SA will engage with key stake holders and be expected to collaborate with government personnel on occasion.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create System Boundaries, Collecting and Managing Asset Inventories, Creating, Updating and Managing System Interconnection/Information Sharing, Update the Information Contacts
• Review and provide governance to make sure no System Name duplication and Help System Owners for System Categorization
• Provide technical analysis and remediation support services to SOs and Tech leads to address vulnerabilities discovered on public facing websites.
• Approve access requests for VPN, Admin accounts, email accounts, user accounts, and PIV exempt accounts in accordance with agency guidelines.
• Initiate IDEAS tickets, when appropriate, ensuring content and format meet agency guidelines, track agency ISSA training compliance and include statistics in monthly report, ensure patch management is communicated and completed.
• System Health Monitoring, manage and configure physical security, disaster recovery and data backup systems. The contractor shall on a weekly basis perform backup and, as needed, disaster recovery services. The contractor shall maintain existing plans for both backup and recovery services. The minimum response SLA is 2hrs
• SA will work with IHS ISSO to approve access requests for Virtual Private Network (VPN), Admin accounts, email accounts, user accounts, and Personal Identity Verification (PIV)-exempt accounts
• Perform User Training
• Provide recommendations to the IHS based on system findings, best practices, and feedback
• Ensure technology and security controls that are in place;
• Experience analyzing and evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of Information;
• Experience with building, configuring and deploying Linux systems
• Proficiency in one or more of Perl, Python, Ruby, Bash or Java
• Working knowledge of Active Directory, experience adding and removing accounts from Windows AD

Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):

• Position Requirement: Onsite at the IHS HQ’s Rockville, MD
• At least 5 years of experience in supporting Linux Operating System and Knowledge of Active Directory a must
• Linux or Security Plus certification a plus
• Demonstrated experience in large scale stakeholder engagement and coordination. 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
