On-Call Registered Nurse

The didgwálic Wellness Center is seeking a dynamic On-Call Registered Nurse to join our team. This is a great opportunity to work on a collaborative care team. In this role you'll be responsible for administering medications and maintaining accurate accounting of all medication received and dispensed. The didgwálic wellness center is an outpatient integrated care clinic that combines primary care, behavioral health, and opiate treatment under one roof.

What You'll Do:

  • Administer Methadone or Buprenorphine/Naloxone or Mono Buprenorphine (Suboxone/Subutex) as ordered by the Medical Director and staff providers to maintain accurate accounting of all medication received (from supplier) and dispensed (to the patient).
  • Responsible for the safekeeping of all medication stock and the records required by the DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, and clinic.
  • Rotate among various clinical services such as Medical Assisted Treatment dosing and readying equipment and aiding during treatment and examination of patients.
  • Provide direct support of medical services, including taking medical histories, physical examinations, lab draws and EKGs for the opiate treatment program, and performs appropriate follow-up visits.
  • Assist in the coordination of the outpatient detoxification and treatment services to persons addicted to opiates.
  • Train, mentors, and assists LPN nursing staff in their professional development.
  • Provide clinical expertise in medical management, crisis and behavior management techniques.
  • Conduct breath alcohol testing and urine collection and processing, reading test results as needed; ensures accurate completion of all forms involved in these procedures.
  • Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and determines progress of patient. Provides basic patient care or treatments, to include dressing wounds.
  • Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and provides direct support to medical providers as needed.
  • Alert treatment staff of any observed changes in patients status.
  • Enter and updates prescriptions and medications in the medical record.
  • Accurately chart patient encounters and incidents in a timely manner.
  • Record all inter-agency communications relating to the patient in a timely manner.
  • Explain the proper use of dispensed medication and its effects to clients.
  • Maintain current statistical records.

Qualifications


Must Haves*

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Washington.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse.
  • Possess a valid Washington State Driver’s license and meet eligibility requirements for tribal insurance.
  • Previous substance abuse treatment and/or primary care experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the current medical practices in primary care, mental health and addiction medicine. Management of sexually acquired illnesses, Hep C, family planning and familiarity with prenatal care beneficial.
  • Good personal and ethical boundaries. Empathy and good communications skills. Motivational interviewing skills desirable or a desire to learn MI.
  • Effective communication; written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
  • Basic computer and software experience using MS Office products.
  • Ability to pass an extensive criminal background check, pre-employment drug screening and be able to provide proof of COVID vaccination.
