DFD Architects is seeking an Architectural Designer to join our team. DFD Architects is a long-standing relationship-based firm specializing in long-term healthcare, hospital, and commercial projects. DFD Architects has used those relationships in a team-based approach that includes designers, owners, developers, operators, contractors, and even local and state jurisdictions to create a uniquely successful and significant presence in the State of Texas.
This position works under the direct supervision of a Project Manager or Senior Management to develop and complete Schematic, Design Development and Final Construction Documents. The Designer is critical to the successful completion of any project as their efforts constitute most of the hours spent designing, coordinating and physical creation of the construction documents. Experience in health care and long-term senior care facilities in Texas is not required but strongly encouraged.
Essential Tasks
1. Prepare Schematic, Design Development and Construction Documents for permitting and pricing using AutoCAD®. Documents may include other disciplines as necessary.
2. Work closely with a Project Manager to coordinate the reconciliation of conflicts between building systems and outside consultants such as structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil engineering, telecommunications, and life safety.
3. Understand and be capable of designing basic structural systems of wood, masonry and multi-story steel frame construction under the direction of a project manager.
4. Occasional on-site visits during the construction phase to assist with observations.

6. The ability to create and interpret two-dimensional drawings of three dimensional objects and spaces.
Required Education and Experience:
1. 2 years of experience working in an Architectural Firm in the United States under the supervision of a licensed Architect.
2. 4 years’ experience in AutoCAD®, REVIT® or AutoCAD Architecture. ®
3. 4 years of experience in MS Office® programs such as Word®.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. 4 years’ of experience working in an Architectural Firm under the supervision of a licensed Architect in the United States.
2. 5-6 years’ experience in AutoCAD®, REVIT® or AutoCAD Architecture. ®
