Position Overview

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our growing Finance & Accounting organization. This position would report directly to the Assistant Controller and be part of our Accounting Team. The Staff Accountant is part of a team responsible for driving the monthly close and providing timely and accurate reporting. This role is also responsible for communicating and collaborating with the pet and vet centers to help support them and provide them their informational needs and resolve issues that involve daily revenue and/or activity reporting. This role is an active contributor in innovative projects and implementations. 

Education & Experience: 

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field 

* Minimum of one (1) year of public accounting or one to two (1-2) years of industry accounting and finance work experience with increasing abilities 

* CPA license or working towards CPA license preferred

* Microsoft Excel (Pivot Table, Lookup functions, etc.) 

* Knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

* Passionate about pets, their wellness, and comfortable working in a dog friendly setting

Responsibilities & Duties: 

* General accounting duties include various components of the month-end close processes, including journal entry preparation and reconciliation preparation

* Contributes to continuous improvement focusing on automating and streamlining processes 

* Participate in system implementations or migrations and automation projects 

* Helps provide audit support for external audit, including substantive and controls-related work 

* Responsible for the journal entry and reconciliation for areas such as cash, prepaids, accruals, and fixed assets

*Responsible for the daily recording of center level activity (including but not limited to cash transactions and merchant transactions) 

* Support ad hoc analysis requests

Job Type: Full-time. Denver based preferred.

Schedule: * Tuesday and Thursday in office *Flex work/remote work remainder of the week 

Pay: $65,000 to $75,000
