Job Title: Safety Specialist

Department: Safety

Reports to: Director of Safety

FLSA Status: Exempt (not eligible for OT)

Location: Louisville, CO
Wage Rage: $70-80K/year

Overview: 

The Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting in establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace. As a Safety Specialist, you must have excellent attention to detail and experience in identifying worksite hazards. This position is a hybrid in the field and the office position. In the field, you’ll be conducting job walks and providing safety guidance and discovering opportunities for improving working conditions and executing various safety programs. As part of the safety team, you’ll work with management to prepare, present, and enforce all safety procedures to ensure site compliance with all federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.

Duties:

  • Conduct onsite audits and training for construction and service departments to identify any hazards, and ensure employees are working safely.
  • Identify safety issues that directly affect employees or pose a liability to the Company to develop policies and train personnel.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents and Foreman when visiting job sites to determine where they need assistance.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and near misses.
  • Assist in managing claims related to auto accidents, injuries, and general liability to appropriate parties.
  • Verify that the OSHA standards and Company's safety policies are being followed.
  • Teach OSHA and Company mandated classes to all employees.
  • Establish a working relationship with customer safety personnel to make job sites safer.
  • Assist in preparing safety bulletins, and recurring safety reporting to management, parent company, and OSHA.
  • Plan and attend safety meetings.
  • Prepare documentation on job visit reports/memos and complete job site safety inspection forms.
  • Order, issue, and maintain personal protective equipment.
  • Performs other miscellaneous related duties, as needed.

Requirements:

  • Safety degree or certifications preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of Construction Industry safety experience (Mechanical preferred)
  • Valid CO Driver’s License and Clear MVR
  • Can successfully pass a criminal background check, drug test, and physical ensuring you can perform the duties of the job
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Willingness to be a team player with fellow safety personnel and all employees
  • Ability to work with all employees to motivate safe behavior
  • Desire to continually learn and improve safety knowledge
  • Genuine caring for the well-being of all of our employees
  • OSHA 30-hour in Construction 1926
