DIG, Laborer/Operator – 100% travel - Locations and job sites vary


Summary/Objective:

No experience is needed, we will train you. The general laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at project sites. They may include cleaning and preparing a job site, loading, and delivering materials, and, once proficiency and safety have been demonstrated, using a variety of tools and machines such as blowtorches, forklifts, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, and pressure washers, and the potential to operate any equipment pertaining to the operations of the facility including a dredge. The position may assist other workers as requested.

  • lift capacity 75 pounds minimum,
  • must read, write, speak, and understand English,
  • Be able to control 125psi fire hose
  • Be able to work in confined spaces with proper training, descending ladders up to 50’ in depth
  • Be willing to work from Bosuns chair in confined spaces

Essential Functions:

  • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in different project sites and conditions.
  • Maintains a clean job site picks up all tools and equipment and secures the job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Clean equipment and the surrounding area (shoveling and washing)
  • Abide by regulatory compliance and safety guidelines
  • Operate a truck on-site to move trailers for loading
  • Operate additional pumps on site
  • Maintain production log
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • May be required to operate a dredge
  • Performs materials handling and storage.
  • Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the supervisor and Director of Health, Safety, and Human Resources.
  • Promote strict company standards of safety and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Preserve Company equipment investment via responsible operation, oversight, preventative maintenance, and repair. Keep equipment clean and professional in appearance. No abuse of company equipment will be tolerated.
  • Maintain a hygienic environment and appearance
  • Follow daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and training.
  • Ability to operate equipment that pertains to the operations of the facility
  • Maintain a service-type attitude and be willing to help other employees fulfill their duties and responsibilities, directly or indirectly. DWS is an “all hands on deck” company at times and expects staff to be a part of furthering the company’s goals and objectives whether the task at hand falls within their primary responsibilities.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.


Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time, and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts push-pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

Travel will be weekly but not necessarily daily travel from Schedules that will vary based on the company’s needs.


Travel:
Extensive travel. All work is outside.


Required Education and Experience

  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • One year of equipment operator experience. Backhoe, skid steer, etc.


Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
