DELTA ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES is Hiring a Human Resource Generalist Near Metairie, LA

Job Responsibilities

Work with the Human Resource Supervisor to coordinate and manage all Human Resources related activities. This includes, the evaluation of prospects, client/employee grievances and investigations, evaluation of client HR related training needs, coordinating drug free work program with clients, writing job descriptions and employee handbooks as well as maintain HR software used for on-boarding, recruiting and file management. Maintain training library. Ensure activities are executed in accordance with all federal/state laws and within the client service agreement. Work with the Risk/Safety department on incident investigations, reporting and drug testing. Reports Directly to Human Resource Supervisor.

Job Functions 

• Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves of absence/FMLA, transfers, or promotions, using HRIS software.

• Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.

• Address employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns.

• Manage Wage and Hour, LOA and FMLA compliance.

• Conduct compliance training as needed/requested.

• Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

• Schedule or conduct new employee orientations.

• Maintain and update human resources documents, employee handbooks or directories, or performance evaluation forms.

• Assist new and existing clients with the completion of job descriptions, performance improvement plans and policies.

• Train management on electronic on-boarding for compliance as needed.

• Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures as requested.

• Conduct exit interviews and ensure that necessary employment termination paperwork is completed and processed.

• Set up and monitor hiring portal for clients. Assist in searches for qualified job candidates, using sources such as computer databases, networking, Internet recruiting resources, media advertisements, job fairs, recruiting firms, or employee referrals.

• Provide management with information or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, counseling techniques, or documentation of performance issues.

• Responsible for processing unemployment inquiries, claims and hearings.

• Manage paid time off processes in conjunction with the payroll dept. to ensure compliance and accuracy.

• Help create annual human resources training plan.

• Help establish and maintain human resources and training manuals/materials.

• Respond to client calls, requests and inquiries regarding HR related matters.

• Ensuring new hire reporting to various states.

• Evaluate potential new HR services to provide clients (i.e. employee/salary surveys).

• Serve as back up to Safety department managing on the job injuries, drug testing and training.

• Evaluate prospective client human resources information.

• Responsible for timely investigation of client and employee grievances, including reporting requirements.

• Participate in strategic decision making, including setting goals and decisions products services.

• Stay current in human resources fields.

• Utilize to the maximum capabilities of our software and HRIS program.

• Help to organize community functions and keep staff abreast of upcoming events.

• Evaluate effectiveness of personnel policies or practices.

• Evaluate personnel practices to ensure adherence to regulations.

• Inform individuals or organizations of status or findings.

• Maintain data in information systems or databases.

• Prepare operational reports.

• Train personnel on managerial topics.

• Train personnel to enhance job skills.

• Update knowledge of legal or regulatory environments.

Education/Experience

• Human Resources bachelor’s degree or Business Degree with emphasis/minor in Human Resources preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an HR generalist or 7 years as an HR assistant in an organization with over 100 worksite employees.

• PEO experience a plus.

• Bi-lingual experience a plus.

• PHR/SPHR certification preferred; must obtain within first year of employment.

Continuing Education Requirements

• Completion of a minimum of 20 hours per year of continuing education seminar/course hours in Human Resource and Training topics.

• Maintain a membership in the national and local chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management

• Actively participate in community organizations (i.e. Jefferson Parish or New Orleans Chamber Association)
