    Position: 7th and 8th Grade Science Teacher
    Reports To: Terry Howarth – K8 Academy Principal
    Position Summary: MOT Charter is a small school on a mission to provide a 21st century learning experience to our students. MOT Charter teachers are passionate about learning and are an integral part of providing a first class learning experience that maximizes students’ intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development, including the ability to solve problems and contribute to their communities as enlightened and responsible citizens.
    Planning and preparation
      Proficient in NGSS standards and aligning curriculum to the standards.
      In collaboration with administrators and teachers, augment course content to meet student needs and achieve MOT Charter School’s academic goals.
      Conversant in the learning standards from other disciplines to enhance cross content integration.
    Instruction and Student Achievement
      Conduct instruction using problem-solving and integration with other coursework to the extent possible.
      Take ownership for student’s academic progress and attendance.
      Communicate high expectations and show an active interest in student achievement.
      Establish and maintain a positive rapport with families.
      Offer a variety of learning opportunities which support the development of student creativity, collaboration and communication skills.
      Utilize technology and online resources for instruction and communication.
      Orient students to their course, communicate requirements and maintain accessibility to students.
      Conduct conferences with students and parents (or other responsible adults).
      Provide opportunities for enrichment/additional support for students.
      Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress.
      Maintain regular contact with students and families through e-school and classroom web pages.
      Support students with the set-up and maintenance of their learning environment.
      Support students through basic computer troubleshooting.
    Professional Responsibilities
      Collaborate with other faculty, students and parents in order to provide a positive experience for students.
      Build community by contributing to school message boards, newsletters and participating in school events.
      Serve as an advisor or coach or assist to Science Olympiad Team
      Stay current in research relating to content and instruction.
      Take part in organizing and holding schoolwide Science/STEM Schoolwide Event – Science Fair.
      Support and apply school wide behavioral programs and philosophies
      Understand and apply the strategies that help build strong relationships with students to foster a positive classroom community.
    Minimum Required Qualifications:
      2 years of teaching experience in a general education classroom or Middle School Science classroom preferred.
      Delaware, certificate, teaching license in Middle Level Science.
    Other Required Skills & Abilities:
      Strong written/verbal communication skills
      Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
      Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook and in the use of Schoology or a similar learning platform
      Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools
