Delaware Nation Industries is Hiring a Construction Project Manager Near Champlain, NY

Overview

Unami, a subsidiary of Delaware Nation Industries (DNI) is providing on-site Construction and Management for The Customs and Border Protections (CBP) Border Patrol & Air and Marine Program Management Office in Champlain, NY 

Summary:

This person will oversee and document the development, review, validation and updating of the project documents by the Contractor throughout the Design and Construction Stages. The Project Manager shall confirm that information gained from the Pre-Design surveys, studies, and analyses is correctly incorporated into the project documents. As part of the services provided under all phases of this contract, the Project Manager shall continually monitor and ensure that the project complies with the approved project documents as well as all applicable codes and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • The Project Manager shall closely monitor schedule and budget to minimize or eliminate adverse impact
  • The Project Manager shall exercise due diligence to ensure that the project meets applicable requirements, codes, regulations, standards, and adheres to the project construction documents
  • Prior to working onsite and during construction, become thoroughly familiar with the contract specifications, statement of work (SOW), and drawings ensuring full understanding of the project in its entirety.
  • The Project Manager shall establish and maintain strong communication and professional relationships with the Government, Agency representatives, and all Project Delivery Team members.
  • Oversee and document the development, review, validation and updating of the project documents through the Design and Construction stages.
  • Confirm that information gained from the Pre-Design surveys, studies, and analyses are correctly incorporated into the project documents.
  • Conduct weekly progress meetings with the Contractor as well as attend construction oversight meetings with representatives from the Government and Project Delivery Team monthly.
  • Conduct site tours for the Government and other officials as required.
  • Prepare correspondence and other documentation and maintaining accurate and detailed records of the project's progress during each phase
  • Review drawings and submit comments for all submissions to the Government along with value engineering ideas where possible for the next stage.
  • Monitor and review design submittals from the Contractor to ensure that any accepted ideas are achieved.

  • Review the Contractor’s safety and health plans and programs to ensure conformance with applicable regulatory requirements and Contractor contract provisions.
  • The Project Manager will be required to review the Contractor’s schedule for the Govt and recommend approval, rejection, or revision along with supporting rationale.
  • The Project Manager shall monitor the Contractor’s submittal actions to ensure compliance with the target time periods for delivery, review, and return of submittals specified in the construction contract and required for timely construction completion.
  • The Project Manager shall also review submittals for conformance with the technical requirements of the Contract Documents and coordinate the receipt of comments from the Contractor, Government personnel, prospective building occupants, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Construction management
    • Infrastructure maintenance and or repair experience
    • Civil/site design experience
  • 10 years of experience and a Master’s degree in architecture, engineering, business, management, or finance; or, 12 years and a Bachelor’s degree, or 15 years in lieu of degree.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Experience in managing similar construction projects in size and scope.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A true team player who maintains a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in managing simultaneously, multiple projects with independent schedules and budgets
  • Work location is the Niagara Falls, NY area.

Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance use, and employment verifications; active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation preferred. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination.
