Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Department: Operations
Deako is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer located in North America to assist in maintaining quality and on-schedule production of its light switch modules and backplate platform. This role will also involve local assistance with new project bring-up. The role is based in Seattle, WA and requires close interaction with the engineering teams in our Seattle headquarters and our team members and partners in Asia, and Mexico.
Key Responsibilities
Regular audit of manufacturing production lines.
Troubleshoot manufacturing issues through corrective action reports.
Create work instructions and ensure that work instructions are consistent and reflective of manufacturing practices.
Design systems such as jigs, fixtures and processes to improve product quality during assembly.
Perform Gauge R&R and verify ongoing effectiveness of measurement methods and acceptance criteria.
Drive cost reduction through continuous improvement and direct input for product manufacturability during new product development.
Provide inputs into the design process for manufacturability.
Design and perform process capability studies, PFMEA, perform root cause and corrective action.
Develop supplier relationships to ensure priority access to resources.
Track Deako assets and ensure that the remaining life of tools are known.
Coordinate with suppliers and sub suppliers ensure on time delivery of products.
Perform FAI and IQC inspections on new projects and production orders.
Perform AQL testing as needed.
Coordinate and lead weekly conference calls, providing translation as necessary.
Be onsite during tool bring up and modification to facilitate complete adoption of changes and minimize tooling turns.
Skills
Basic understanding of electrical circuits and ability to perform measurements
Basic understanding and ability to assess IPC standards on PCBAs
Advanced understanding of Electronics Manufacturing Service (EMS) processes (IQC, PCBA, ICT, FCT, final assembly, pack and ship)
Using Inspections tools internally and through suppliers - Calipers, CMM machines, optical comparators, and other precision and basic metrology equipment.
Tool design, go/ no go gauges
CAD design - OnShape Preferred.
GD&T Knowledge
Specific background in or proven capability with DFM for plastics molding
Working knowledge of statistical process control.
Language abilities sought - Mandarin, Spanish, Vietnamese, Thai.
Intangibles Sought
Bias for action.
Able to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
Travel
It is expected that the position will require long periods of travel in Asia and North America.
*This role requires that the applicant obtain necessary Visas and travel permissions to travel to China, Vietnam, Thailand, Mexico, and other manufacturing locations as the need arises.
