Pay Range: Starting at $130.00 Daily Rate
Position Summary:
Consistent with the Christian mission and Vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the JCD Operations Director – Day Camp, the Day Camp Coordinator position is responsible for assisting the Day Camp Director in program direction and implementation while maintaining the safety of the campers and staff, and ensuring the camp’s daily program is run efficiently.
Essential Functions:

Ensure inclusion and diversity in programs at Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center
Work directly with the JCD Operations Director – Day Camp in overseeing the daily activities, day camp staff, general camp operations, and programs to ensure the highest quality camp as well as other duties as assigned
Guide and direct campers and staff in a variety of camp activities and oversee character and skill development
Ensure camp programs are delivered to all campers in a safe, fun, and efficient environment; know, understand, train, and execute all camp policies and emergency procedures associated with the camp
Help answer camper parent’s questions in a professional manner and communicates to parents about behavioral and/or health lodge visit updates.
Ensure that all program area schedules are completed satisfactorily in a timely manner and coordinated with all other departments
Coordinate the schedules, room set-ups, meal times and logistics for camps
Execute staff trainings and sessions for summer and seasonal staff
Maintain correspondence home to the parents of campers
Assist Day Camp Director to train, develop, schedule, and oversee staff
Support seasonal leadership with implementation of staff evaluations throughout summer
Maintain a positive working relationship with other staff
Attend all meetings as required

Superior supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, members and participants to create a culture of service
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, versatility, and independent thinking
Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs; the ability to use most office equipment is required
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Minimum 21 years of age
2-3 summers of camp leadership experience preferred
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certifications Required:
Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
Before start of 1st shift: Basic Life Support, First Aid and Emergency Oxygen
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
