Dana-co, a New York-based intimate apparel design company, is looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to perform and coordinate accounting duties within our organization.

Overview:

The Accountant’s role is to assist the Controller and CFO in preparing timely, complete, and accurate financial reporting for use by the finance team and management, providing valuable guidance for the growth strategy of the company moving forward.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare credit card reconciliations (wholesale boutique & direct to consumer retail sales). Tie all cash collections from credit card gateways/processors into the bank statements.
• Monthly corporate AMEX expense entry, voucher into AP sub-ledger
• Monthly bank reconciliations

Provide support to the Controller with the following:

• • Running monthly sales reports and creating journal entries for sales/account receivables. Reconcile factored sales and credit card sales to third-party statements and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Booking all monthly accruals
  • Running and adjusting monthly budget vs actual reports and investigating large or unusual variances. Investigate and provide timely support to management inquiries as required.
  • Monthly update of supporting schedules for all balance sheet accounts
  • Monitor and review AR and AP sub-ledgers
  • Monthly sales commission calculations
  • Preparation of quarterly GST / HST (Canadian Goods & Services Tax) returns
  • Preparation of quarterly commercial real estate tax returns
  • Calculation of quarterly incentives for associates at retail department stores
  • Identifying, adjusting, and implementing internal controls and process improvements as needed
  • Updating chart of accounts as needed
  • Preparing for annual external CPA firm financial statement review and tax return preparation
  • Ad-hoc reporting and projects as they arise

Qualifications / Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Proficiency in Quick Books required
• Experience working with Blue Cherry is a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Professional demeanor, strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work both individually and as part of a team
• Ability to maintain and execute confidential information
• Ability to work effectively with other departments
• Highest level of integrity
