The Opportunity

Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, L.P. is seeking a skilled individual for our Director, Program Management position at our DTTP - Waller, TX location. The Director, Program Management is a key member of the PMO (Strategic Program Management Office). The position will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the PTAC and Light Commercial programs which currently comprise over 30 individual projects. Represents the business and cross functionally drives the initiation and oversight assigned program) from inception through to post launch analysis. Provides oversight for over $25m in CAPEX with direct impact on the success of over $400m in Business Unit revenue. Oversees and reports on program activities and status reporting with the Functional Leaders across the business. Engages across the company ensuring that the program is aligned with and ready to transition according to the agreed schedule. The Program Director ensures the Leadership Team is aligned with project direction prior to a reaching a decision point in the program. Daikin Texas Technology Park- has a footprint of 4.23 million square feet under a single roof, and is the third largest factory in the United States. Opened in 2017 as the manufacturing, logistics, and engineering center for Daikin's American subsidiary Goodman, the plant makes heating and air conditioning products sold under the Goodman, Amana, and Daikin brands.

Responsibilities

May include:

  • Lead the development of the Light Commercial and PTAC Product Road Maps including project initiation, timing, critical path and milestone development and tracking
  • Lead the development of the Product Requirements Document (PRD) for their function or program
  • Leading oversight of the PTAC and Light Commercial Programs on behalf of the Leadership Team
  • Lead After Action Reviews to ensure continuous improvement in the PMO and Project Management activities.
  • Speak on behalf of the Leadership regarding New Product Development (NPD) efforts for the PTAC and Light Commercial Programs
  • Manage Light Commercial & PTAC with initial CAPEX spend over $25m impacting a $400m portion of the business
  • Regular meetings with Business Unit and Company Leadership on program status and related issues that need to be brought to the attention of BU Leadership for their awareness, guidance, or decision
  • Represent and ensure alignment with Leadership on direction and intent of project activities for the Program
  • Provide leadership or manage teams that work on projects related to program or PMO initiatives
  • Participate on cross functional teams to launch products, resolve issues, and support product improvements
  • Leads efforts with defining project scope and timing
  • Participate in a series of independent reviews on active projects to review/approve project milestones
  • Mentor and develop team members to prepare them for greater responsibility within the organization
  • Participate in additional projects to support ongoing business needs

Nature & Scope:

  • Effectively completes assignments that may not have complete definition
  • Leads by example and mentors less-experienced team members across the company
  • Assists with improving and streamlining our processes and procedures
  • Effectively collaborates with other stakeholders, like sales or manufacturing, to ensure project issues are resolved from a mindset of company-wide optimization

Qualifications

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proven leadership, coaching / mentoring and team-oriented mindset Ability to lead a team to achieve strategic goals
  • Demonstrated effective Project or Program Management in HVAC or in a related field
  • HVAC experience in PTAC (Package Terminal Air Conditioners) or LC (Light Commercial) is an advantage
  • Knowledge of refrigeration and/or air conditioning design and application is preferred
  • Knowledge of specifications and standards used in the HVAC industry
  • Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of Project Management theory and practice with demonstrated implementation of principles, practices, theories, and/or methodologies
  • Exceptional problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills with strong business acumen
  • Proven ability to develop and manage critical relationships and ability to influence and collaborate with others
  • Experience working in a fast paced and flexible environment

Experience:

  • 15 years of experience with Project or Program Management in HVAC or in a related field
  • 10 years in a leadership/managerial role

Education:

  • BS or BA degree required (Mechanical Engineering is an advantage); MBA preferred
  • PMP Certification required
