Job Description



The Shop Hand will operate in the Houston Shop performing a variety of “hands-on” support for the assembly and disassembly teams. They will be responsible for cleaning dirty RSS Tools, clearing the shop of safety hazards, unloading trucks, perform general shop maintenance and duties. This is an entry level position.


The incumbent will be accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly clean dirty part and subcomponents from RSS Tool. 
  • Document and teardown RSS steering heads 
  • Assist with disassembly of RSS Tool as needed. 
  • Unloading of packages from delivery trucks.
  • Maintain/clean/organize dumpster and pallet storage areas.
  • General shop maintenance & duties.
  • Cleaning floors with floor scrubbing machine.
  • Cleaning all vices, torque units, air compressor, etc. when necessary.
  • Maintain daily/weekly/monthly inspections on all equipment at station, fire extinguishers and of shop truck. 
  • Movement of equipment and racking when required.
  • Changing out of light bulbs in office when required.
  • Cleaning outside of facility areas when required.
  • Cleaning of Shop Truck when required.
  • Assist cleaning of wash bay pits when deep cleaned yearly.
  • Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within physical constraints of the job.

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and timelines in a fluid environment, bearing high levels of responsibility and accountability while keeping the best interests of the business in sight. An attention to detail, able to prioritize workload but be flexible to adjust to changing deadlines and work independently with little supervision or as a team.
  • Ability to maintain the highest standard of personal conduct in performing all duties and the ability to work well with all levels of employees or customers while being service oriented and having a responsible and friendly demeanor.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in the English Language fluently. Have good communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and be able to operate basic office equipment, such as a keyboard, mouse, and copier/printer/scanning machine.
  • Attention to detail, neat and organized, always keeping Safety First. 
  • Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record. 
  • Ability to work in shifts and overtime (weekends and some holidays included) as required, be flexible in working requirements as the needs of the business dictate is preferred.
  • Ability to use precision hand tools preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience using overhead crane and forklift is preferred.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk while wearing the appropriate Personal Protection Equipment when required (i.e. safety glasses or side shields, closed toe shoes, steel-toe footwear, etc.); sit and/or stand for long periods of time; 8 – 12 hours a day, frequently lifting up to forty-five (45) pounds without assistance and anything over forty-five (45) up to one hundred (100) pounds with assistance. Frequent carrying, pushing, and pulling of heavy objects over one hundred (100) pounds with proper equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
