We are hiring a Sr. Electrical Engineer

The Sr. Electrical Engineer will work directly with other Engineers (hardware, software, system engineers and testers) to troubleshoot issues, make improvements to the current design and work on potential new designs. The electrical engineer will work with Manufacturing, Service, and Quality team members throughout the design process. This role reports to the engineering director. 

Responsibilities

• Support sustaining, new product development, and new product introduction activities for the Cytovale System.
• Provide technical expertise; contribute to technical design projects from ideation to implementation, and provide detailed review of team’s design concepts, schematics, and other technical documents.
• (Technical) Project leadership. Provide guidance on technical priorities / plans.
• Hands-on design: develop, test, and document across Cytovale’s in-vitro diagnostic device design against requirements. 
• Improve requirements for improved functionality, develop device testing strategy
• Work with the software and engineering team to improve current and/or design new embedded architecture.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to improve PCBA robustness.
• Using experience with PCBA designs (schematics and layout), perform root cause analysis of observed electrical failures and develop robust fixes
• Assist with management of device requirements and FMEA/risk analysis (ISO 14971).
• Perform role function in compliance with Cytovale’s QMS (ISO 13485). 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Science with 3 years of medical device or regulated product development design experience, or equivalent industry experience, required. 
• Successful history of multi-layered PCBA design, layout, and manufacture using industry standard tools (Altium preferred).
• Expertise in analog and digital circuit design, particularly related to sensors, monitoring, and automation.
• Experience in embedded electro-mechanical medical device or diagnostic equipment design and verification desired.
• Experience designing instruments to regulatory requirements. Desired experience meeting IEC 60601-1-2 and IEC 61010 EMC/EMC standards, including troubleshooting and developing mitigations for EMC, EMI, and ESD deficiencies. 
• Technical interest to become proficient in assay and instrument troubleshooting. 

Requirements

• This position will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
• Ability to work in the United States.
• Role is 3 to 4 days per week onsite to carry out role functions. Up to 10% domestic travel.

• The compensation plan includes a generous base salary, a yearly cash bonus based on corporate and individual goal attainment, and an equity stake in the organization.
