Overview

CVP is seeking a Technical Writer to make a positive impact on the biomedical research mission of our customers. The professional in this role will support high quality program deliverables and ensure that messages are communicated well. The technical writer/editor will work as part of an integrated project team on a 5-year contract to provide professional information technology (IT) services to a leading United States government biomedical research institute in support of critical and complex IT services that support the institute's scientific, business, and administrative requirements, assisting them in achieving their research and public health mission.

Responsibilities

• Maintain responsibility for tech writing tasks – plan work, perform reviews, ensure technical writing assignments are completed on time, and perform continuous improvements.
• Create or maintain training materials – establish formats, mockups, prototypes, and present training materials to support internal team and client stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other team areas to ensure quality processes are integrated and quality dates are met.
• Write and/or edit technical and training documents including but not limited to; Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), business proposals, reports, user manuals, briefings, presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, and special reports.
• Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management, ensuring that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations.
• Research and gather technical and training background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables.
• Consult relevant information sources, including library resources, technical and financial documents, and client and project personnel, to obtain background information, and verify pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 3 years of previous experience in a Technical Writing or Training role.
• Desired experience working in a biomedical or public health agency
• Strong experience with tools such as Captivate, Snagit, PowerPoint, and other tools that support writing and training materials.
• Professional writing sample to share during the interview process.
• Expert in MS Word.
• Exceptional writing skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Clear and concise verbal communication.
• Ability to listen and capture information in a fast-paced environment.
• High degree of initiative, a self-starter.
