Custom Processing Services is Hiring a Controller Near Reading, PA

Custom Processing Services provides contract manufacturing/toll processing services to a wide variety of industries. Specialized processes center on particle size reduction using a number of methods including jaw crushing, pulverizing, micronizing and media milling. Additional services such as flash drying, surface treatments, blending, dispersing and packaging are also available. The Processing Pros provide new product development assistance from R&D concepts through their commercialization. In addition to CPS's technical grade facilities, a state-of-the art, dedicated building is available for cGMP processing.

CPS is hiring a Controller to be an intracule part of the CPS team.

Controller

The CPS group is seeking a Financial Controller to have hands on duties as well as oversight of the accounting team and our core accounting functions. Additionally the Controller will be involved in various process improvement initiatives including system implementations or enhancements, implementation of policies and procedures and documentation of internal controls. This role reports to the CFO and will work closely with the manufacturing department managers and key external partners such as auditors, insurance and accounting firms. 

The major responsibilities of this position are the following:

  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure that financial results are prepared in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with finance standards and best practices within GAAP
  • Provide insight and leadership to improve accounting processes
  • Research technical accounting issues as necessary and document accounting considerations in technical accounting memos
  • Month-end close including consolidation, preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations
  • At year end third party review, serve as the key liaison between external auditors and the CPS group
  • manage and delegate duties to appropriate members of the accounting team
  • Assist with the development, documentation and implementation of internal controls 
  • Support final completion of a new ERP system with the ERP Team
  • Responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process including journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany eliminations, financial statements and analysis, providing hands on support as needed throughout the process
  • Oversee the accounting team to assure that account, sub-ledger, and bank statement reconciliations are being performed consistently and accurately
  • Utilizing the ERP system, analyze key cost analysis and performance metrics
  • Communicate reporting reliable financial data as is required to help Business Unit Leaders understand their Unit’s performance. 
  • Manage A/R to enable timely collections 
  • Serve as liaison to personnel to monitor and analyze business performance
  • Work deeply to develop and analyze budgets

Success Factors:

The successful candidate will be an energetic and positive self-starter, outgoing, process driven, with a strong financial background with a working knowledge manufacturing business environments. As accounting department leaders, controllers draw on many accounting systems. They should be familiar with cost, financial, and managerial accounting. Outstanding accounting skills and attention to detail combine with professional communications to interface with all levels across the business. Some experience in manufacturing and/or the transport industry is preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; MBA a plus
  • CMA or CPA preferred
  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible finance and accounting experience required
  • Manufacturing industry experience highly desired
  • Demonstrated experience as a controller in a finance or accounting capacity 
  • Prior experience leading and developing a staff strongly desired. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, possess sound judgment with the ability to learn quickly while working in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Solid business fluency. Thinks like a general manager and has strong diagnostic skills – the candidate should be able to translate business issues into actionable strategies 
  • Track record for building strong teams by selecting the right people, setting precise expectations, and holding people accountable to very high-performance standards within their finance function
  • Works with teams to solve business issues that are critical to the corporation.
