Custom Made Meals is a Food manufacturing facility in Denver Colorado with 400 associates. We are the team behind the scenes of America’s home kitchens, producing 15,000 cases of fresh product every day from kebabs to stuffed jalapenos that we deliver to top retail stores across the county. Subfamily Description
Receives, organizes, implements, and oversees CMM’s label cage in compliance with federal and local regulations.
Responsibilities include planning, execution, and ongoing oversight of specifications and systems required to
maintain USDA label compliance. Develops systems and tools to support the R&D and Quality Assurance
Departments of CMM.
Position Purpose
Oversee, plan, and coordinate all label processes. Maintain an organized, agile, and effective label storage program.
Responsible for all aspects of label receiving and storage for Custom Made Meals, from raw material specifications to
finished product labels. Ownership of the company’s label compliance control including routine internal audits,
training and re-training of CMM technicians.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
• Responsible for receiving all labels and verifying accuracy and receiving into inventory system.
• Review, interpret and evaluate food labels, nutrition labels, ingredient statements, allergen statements and other
food labeling aspects to assure federal and local regulatory guidelines are met.
• Daily prepare the correct labels for each production line and each run, ensuring all labels placed on packages are
correct.
• Provide written assessments of label deficiencies and compliance results. Provide direction on how to correct
deficiencies and assure compliance.
• Address emerging regulatory issues pertaining to food labeling and conduct internal audits to ensure ongoing
compliance.
• As necessary, communicate regarding current and emerging food labeling issues and opportunities.
• Identify and isolate products that do not meet labeling standards.
• Actively participate with procurement and production teams to ensure adherence to SQF, HACCP, and Label
Compliance regulations.
• Communicate and partner with cross functional leaders to determine resolution on non-compliance items.
• Perform work procedures using Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to ensure food safety.
• Adheres to all safe quality food (SQF) requirements and standards in CMM. Including the proper handling of all
products according to SQF standards.
• Responsible for keeping the labels and storage area clean, clear, organized and free of clutter.
• Ensure unused labels returned from production are returned to the correct place and inventoried back into the
system.
• Participate in proper destruction of labels with the warehouse department.
• Place items on QA hold as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• This position if absent will be covered by the same level or the next higher level of leadership.
Requirements
• Bi-lingual in Spanish and English
• Knowledge of label regulations, food safety, and allergens (FDA, USDA)
• Experience in food manufacturing
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to read and write in English
• Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable working in a cross functional team setting
• Evidence of strong problem solving & critical thinking skills
• Intermediate mathematical skills
• Strong systems acumen and computer skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Environment Job Requirements
Located in a refrigerated production facility environment. Minimal time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. Must be able to stand for periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, squat, turn body and walk. Must be able to work in a cold cooler environment (36 degrees and below). Minimal travel may be required; less than 10%.
Compensation / Benefits
We offer a competitive salary based on experience. This is a hourly position with a range of $15.00 -$16.00 an hour based on shift with the opportunity to increase pay based on performance. We offer Medical, Dental, Vision, Flex Spending Accounts, 401K with a match up to 4%, and paid time off.
