We are looking for a Systems Engineer to work on a logistically complex technology refresh program for a large K-12 client.

This position requires heavy NYC travel within all five boroughs as well as in office time located in Hauppauge, NY

Qualifications:

• New York City Department of Education Experience –a PLUS
• The ability to read and interpret construction blueprint drawings at various design phase stages is essential 
• Strong understanding of Architectural Drawings, specifically electrical, telecom, and data layouts
• Strong technical understanding of Network Infrastructure (including wired, wireless, video Surveillance and end user devices)
• Installation experience & knowledge of Meraki and or Cisco network devices, including switches, ASA/firepower firewalls, wireless controllers, and access points across multiple platforms.
• Hands on experience in upgrading and downgrading Cisco IOS images across multiple platforms.
• Ability to set up, generate and maintain program library to house detailed technical processes for overall program to include updated specifications, standards, bulletins, and procedures.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, and SharePoint
• Effective communicator with the ability to effectively communicate with teammates and clients
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to accurately document network integration changes and updates
• Capable of managing vendors
• Team oriented, but can work independently
• Skilled with organization, decision making and time management

Role & Responsibilities:

·Responsible for planning and execution of all technical facets of project integrations tasks from design to closeout

·Resource planning, supervision, and ownership for all project integrations

·On site/hands on field integration implementation

·Responsible for daily field staff check in/check outs including site status, punch lists and next steps

·Read and interpret construction drawings to conduct drawing reviews for projects in various design stages

oStrong understanding of DIIT Standards & SCA Specifications and Design Requirements

oIdentify deficiencies and proposed resolution

oAbility to attend call with A&E Designers and AoR & EoR and explain deficiencies and answer questions and be able to backup statements

oReview RFI & Bulletin Drawings to confirm adherence

·Generate and Submit DIIT Network & IPDVS Designs plus IPDVS Parts Calculator

oUnderstanding of how existing environments for Building Additions are to be handled

·Generate Bill of Materials to be utilized for Network Equipment Quote Generation

oReview of Network Quote Packages before submittal to SCA for procurement

·Schedule / Prep and Conduct onsite Project Kickoff Meetings

oMeet with PO / GC / EC and review any open Bid Set DR Comments & Deficiencies requiring correction

oReview Timeline for project milestones

·Conduct MDF Closet Layout Overview w/SCA Vendors

oMeasure Room for spacing and clearance issues

oReview power requirements and their install locations

oGrounding and Labeling Requirements

oLadder Rack Layout and Height Requirements

·Compile Technology Allocations

oTo be generated from Construction Drawings

oShould include IWB Panel Counts & Type (specific to project & location)

·Technology Allocation and furniture vendor drawing comparisons in conjunction w/PM

oAbility to identify deficiencies with placement / lack of furniture / power / data

·Perform Construction Site Surveys

oIdentify the Crown Castle Conduits / Fiber Termination Splicing box and MRV

oIdentify Fiber interconnects

oAssure MDF & IDF Closets are being built to proper requirements

oIdentify and call out deficiency noted during continual progress

oAbility to review and identify classroom and office data / wireless and power requirement are being followed

oAbility to review camera locations are being installed as depicted on drawings

oAccurately fill out standard SCA survey document & effectively communicate items of concern to PM

oAssist and explain to PO and or contractor directly deficiency outlined and what is required to correct it

·Generate and submit interim and final As Built documentation

• Compile and submit all applicable IPDVS Documentation to request initial IPDVS Assessment

oContinue to work with PM to monitor remaining open items

oObtain and submit documentation of corrections for re-submittal to DOE until Full Acceptance is reached

·Ability to modify CAD floor plans for final project submittal (wireless floor plans)

• Review of SCA Program Bulletins

oBreakdown summary for communication to team on implementation into current drawing review processes and integration processes where applicable

• Review of New DIIT Standards when issued

oWrite up Key Points that identify differences in current SCA Specifications & the changes that would be required

oIdentify deficiencies not accounted for & bring to attention of SCA for resolution
