Cuningham is Hiring a Project Architect Near Minneapolis, MN

Cuningham is seeking a motivated, strategic, and well-rounded Project Architect/Team Leader for our Entertainment Hospitality team (licensed/non-licensed) who can lead with curiosity and thrive in a purpose-driven environment. As a Project Architect, you will join a strong themed entertainment team that cares about delivering effective and meaningful design solutions.

The Entertainment Hospitality Team specializes in theme park, attraction, theater, retail, restaurant, resort/hotel, casino, and large-scale immersive and interactive exhibits, for some of the world’s leading themed entertainment and hospitality companies.

Candidates should have 8-15 years of experience with a focus in themed entertainment or hospitality projects. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team leader, highly motivated, and ready to contribute on dynamic, face-paced projects. We are seeking hybrid/remote candidates in our Minneapolis, Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and San Diego offices but are open to those in a non-Cuningham office location as well.

  • Participate in the formation of high performing team alongside Project Manager consistent with established teaming process.
  • Lead the development of design solutions, coordination, and production efforts on a wide range of small to medium scale projects, through all phases of the design, in an iterative and collaborative design process in alignment with project success metrics.
  • Lead collaboration and manage expectations with client team providing clear feedback bi-directionally between the broader internal team and client groups.
  • Encourage and apply regenerative approaches to design and performance of the built, social, and natural environments.
  • Motivate the project team to provide their best by supporting team member development and growth through thoughtful task assignment.
  • Manage collaboration with related disciplines (consultants and contractors) for best design outcomes.
  • Identify potential risk through the project process and raise concerns with Project Manager and Project Executive.
  • Participate with project management and project teams on CA processes, on-site observations, and verifications.
  • Participate in the project pursuit process by providing, preparing, and reviewing content for proposals/interviews and participating in interviews.
  • Adopt and proficiently use: MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, Revit/BIM 360.
  • Build awareness and engage with: Rhino, Enscape, Lumion.
  • Lead code review and identify and resolve special code conditions.
  • Lead all technical aspects of the project while supporting design and project success metrics.
  • Direct and ensure QA/QC process is done timely and fully.
  • Lead coordination and engagement with specs team.
  • Lead design and validation of the envelope systems.
  • Lead communication as needed with local AHJ.
  • Lead construction administration activities along with other project leaders and on-site staff.
  • Maintain responsible control over technical submissions when required to sign and seal documents.
  • Be accountable for a complete and quality set of architectural documents that meet contract requirements.
What we look for
  • Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree in Architecture.
  • 8 to 15 years of experience with hospitality or themed entertainment projects preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit and Office 365 required. Skills in other software such as Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, Revit C4R, Glue, etc. are ideal.
