POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Cost Accounting Manager assists in decision-making by establishing budgets, tracking costs of various processes and shop activities, explaining cost variances, and providing recommendations on cost improvement initiatives. This role requires strong general business skills in addition to accounting expertise. This position will possess an understanding of financial accounting standards & procedures and apply knowledge to properly oversee all financial transactions at the shop level along with material and labor processes.

Primary responsibilities and/or essential functions include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensures that costs for the repair services are accounted for according to company procedures and in compliance with accounting requirements.
  • Prepare financial analysis to monitor spending in key areas direct / indirect labor, materials, and associated costs, as well as overhead cost categories.
  • Maintain active participation in plant operations.
  • Monitor and enforce internal controls and ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Participate in month-end close activities/related variances, analysis, monthly shop performance.
  • Review Freight In/Out monthly.
  • Gathers historical / actual cost data to generate trend analysis and compare to budget and forecast.
  • Managers and interprets cost audits.
  • Recommends changes to the company's processes and policies to reduce cost (eliminate error) and maximize profit.
  • Prepares cost accounting reports for presentation to top management.
  • Facilitate and review the standard costing accuracy, procedures, and processes.
  • Serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the business unit controller and the leadership team in continuously improving cost structure and accomplishing strategic growth objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Special Projects:
  • Act as the cost accounting lead in the implementation of a companywide ERP system and business intelligence tools as identified.
  • Build out and automate our cost reporting and visualization tools, to drive real-time and predicative analytics and to lead cost down initiatives.
The incumbent works to meet internal and external customer expectations at all times by fully applying oneself to the task involved, preventing errors, and developing and implementing personal quality improvement projects. In addition, the incumbent is required to understand the Responsible Care Management System and actively participate in activities outlined therein.
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business or Accounting required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related work experience in corporate environment, with at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, relationship building, people management and leadership skills.
  • The successful candidate will possess a proven track record of delivering results in a high-performance, high-expectation environment.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables/macros/database management), Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft BI tools
