In this role, you will be a member of our highly reputable cost management and estimating team. The cost team delivers solutions to clients in the areas of conceptual estimating, budget development, cost planning, feasibility studies, value management, economic forecasting, milestone reports, pre- and post-contract auditing, change order review and reconciliation, BIM 5D cost modeling, LEED cost analysis, life cycle costing, and more. We are looking for an Associate Director, Cost Management to join our growing team. You will be based in our Chicago, IL office. Prior or current experience focused on the post contract side and experience in the higher education and hospitality market sectors in Chicago is highly preferable. This is a key leadership opportunity where you will be empowered to help build our team and continue to grow existing and new clients in the Chicago area.

Responsibilities

Client Management

  • Lead existing client accounts and surpass their expectations with the goal of continued and new revenue growth.
  • Implement the Cumming client management and review procedures.

Business Development

  • Partner with management team in developing new customers and growing existing customer base.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of business development strategies.
  • Develop and nurture subcontractor/vendor and client relationships.
  • Team with local and national leadership in business development endeavors. 
  • Represent the company at both formal and informal industry events which are deemed essential to the success of the business development strategy.
  • Identify and cease upon opportunities to cross sell the various service lines and geographies that exist within Cumming.

Staff Management

  • Take responsibility to manage assigned staff members. This includes both the daily management and long term growth of the individuals as well as mentorship of Cost Managers and Senior Cost Managers as needed.
  • Provide clear and concise direction to the staff members whom you are assigned.
  • The Associate Director will manage, review and evaluate the team members who they are assigned at periodic times throughout the calendar year.

Technical Deliverables

  • Drive the company’s Cost Management process in order to get best in class results for all of our clients. This will include all types of advice from the inception through to the completion of the project.
  • Utilize expertise and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of creativity and ability to think outside established norms.
  • Perform billable Cost Management/Estimating/Quantity Surveying duties as needed in this “seller/doer” role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management/Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Architecture is highly preferred. A combination of education and work experience will also be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 7 years' of Quantity Surveying/Cost Management experience.
  • Corporate interiors or hospitality sector experience is a plus.
  • Strong post contract experience and commercial management (Procurement, Cost Reporting, Risk Management, etc.) 
  • Ability to interact extremely well with many different client types.
  • Advanced skill level in Excel and intermediate knowledge of Windows, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
