CTR Management Group LLC is Hiring a Payroll Manager Near Tysons, VA

Description

As a Payroll Manager you will perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over the payroll staff. The supervisory-level position requiring an individual who is capable of exercising good judgment and who possesses superior interpersonal skills. The payroll manager provides skilled assistance and support to the payroll and human resources departments in all phases of payroll and personnel relations. They will oversee semi-monthly payroll processing for multiple locations within multiple states including tax filings; both Federal and State, annual year-end and W2 processing.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage the Payroll function to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Coordinates and supervises all payroll work activities. 
  • Enforces established payroll related policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Oversees payroll related processing between the payroll area, operating departments, human resources and the finance department.
  • Reviews payroll procedures and works effectively with management to improve existing policies. Makes suggestions for change and/or improvements, implements changes when necessary.
  • Ensures timely reporting and payment of the employers and employees withholding taxes and miscellaneous withholdings to appropriate agencies.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Assists and organizes preparation for all types of internal and external audits. During the audit process provides documents, reports and other payroll related items upon request including answering questions and implementing procedural changes recommended by auditors.
  • Performs research, troubleshooting and prepares reports.

Requirements

Work Experience

Minimum of 4 years of payroll processing experience required with multi-states. 

Education/Training

High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelors Degree highly preferred.

Specialized Knowledge Certificates & Licenses

As outlined in the Core Competencies, an individual must have thorough knowledge and an advanced understanding of each competency above in order to carry out the essential functions of this position. Specialized Knowledge is also required in the following areas:

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads and schedules efficiently.
  • Must be a team player and work effectively with all types of diverse personalities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills;
  • Thorough knowledge of Payroll Practices and Procedures as they relate to federal and state requirements;
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll cycles and reconciliation;
  • Thorough knowledge of IRS rules and regulations as they pertain to Employer Requirements for withholdings;
  • Thorough knowledge of Payroll rules and laws as they pertain to garnishments, levies, fines, and fees at the federal, state, and local levels;
  • Knowledge of SCA. 
  • Preferred expertise in Paylocity; thorough understanding of In-house and outsourced payroll management;
  • Preferred GovCon experience. 
  • Preferred knowledge of Time Keeping Systems (Unanet).

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position (standing or sitting) up to 90% of the time. 
  • Regularly operates a computer, and other office equipment using hands 
  • Frequently required to move about the office/building 
  • Communicates verbally and listens effectively in person and via telephone. 
  • Ability to read computer screens, correspondence, and reports.
  • The employee must occasionally move, reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee may occasionally transport or move up to 30 pounds. 
  • May be required to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, or ramps.
  • The job is performed in various office settings 
  • The employee may be subject to related conditions such as dust, blowing air conditioning, and heat
  • The ambient noise level is usually quiet, consisting of normal conversations, business machines (copiers, printers), and telephones, but occasionally may be above normal for portions of the business day.
