About the CSUDH Foundation

The California State University, Dominguez Hills Foundation was incorporated in 1968 as a partner of the University to provide services and develop and enhance programs that are an integral part of the University's educational mission. CSU Dominguez Hills is a highly diverse, metropolitan university primarily serving the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. Established in 1960, CSU Dominguez Hills is one of the 23 campuses that comprise the California State University system.

Position Information

Employment at the Foundation is on an at-will basis and can be terminated by either an employee or the Foundation at any time with or without cause or advanced notice. Permanent status can neither be obtained nor granted.

This is a Full-time, exempt, benefited position employer-sponsored health, dental vision, life insurance, retirement program and vacation pay.

Annual Salary: $75,000.00

Purpose of Position

CSU Dominguez Hills seeks a dedicated leader to serve as the Program Director of two Educational Talent Search grant programs. A leader in education with demonstrated successful experience building new grant-funded programs, managing large grants, working with high schools, school governance organizations, and community-based organizations, and experience building and leading coalitions to deploy innovative strategies focused on improving high school graduation rates, college enrollment and completion rates. The Educational Talent Search (ETS) Program Director is responsible for the administration of two five-year grants including supervising of all affiliated personnel and sub-contracts. The primary purpose of the Program Director is to ensure the continued viability and presence of ETS by complying with and abiding by all federally mandated requirements of the program. The Program Director will build programs and engage stakeholders to improve the educational outcomes for target school students, initiate ongoing communication between target schools, CSU Dominguez Hills, ETS partners, and community-based organizations. Grant compliance and meeting stipulated goals, objectives, and outcomes are the primary functions of this position. The Director will establish long- and short-term strategies to accomplish the program's goals and objectives.

Essential Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish a new, first-time ETS grant program in the Inglewood Unified School District.
  • Oversee and strengthen the renewed ETS grant program with LAUSD Freemont and Jefferson High School. Establish working relationships with district and school leadership that foster the successful implementation of the ETS grant objectives.
  • Oversee two ETS programs to ensure overall quality and effectiveness of program implementation, administration, evaluation, and compliance with the ETS grant.
  • Utilizing best practices Identify short-term and long-term strategies to accomplish the program's mission and objectives.
  • Coordinate efforts to establish a consortium of stakeholders (target school, university, community-based partners, college access programs) in an effort to streamline communication and enhance the overall effectiveness of the ETS services.
  • Oversees ETS Budget and fiscal accountability ensures the program has a dollar for dollar match and ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Hire, train and support all ETS program staff. Creates and maintains a collaborative work environment. Leads and motivates staff advocates on their behalf and ensures staff receives support and development. Setting performance goals and expectations and annually evaluating staff performance.
  • Manages day-to-day operations of the grant and guides and supports staff to assist them in their assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Ensures that timely program evaluation is conducted that assesses the performance of ETS and assists with data collection and analysis.
  •  Completes and files the US Department of Education the Annual Performance Report meeting deadlines established by the Department of Education.
  •  Ensures ETS data is disseminated to necessary CSUDH and school districts stakeholders in a timely fashion.
  •  Actively seeks out new opportunities to learn and promote ETS best practices, and college access high-impact practices.
  • 13. Develops statewide, regional, and national partnerships and initiatives to enhance sustainability efforts, community support, professional development, a college-going culture, and college access programs.
  • 14. Works on projects assigned by the Director of Educational Partnerships

Education:

  •  Master’s Degree required; Doctoral degree preferred in education, counseling, public administration, or field related to Project objectives from an accredited college or university

Experience:

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience with federal TRIO or GEAR UP programs, academic support projects, and programs for diverse students.

• Experience with federal program reporting and compliance.

• Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers like those confronting Participants.

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in budget management, program management, program development; staff supervision and evaluation.

• Experience providing 21st Century employability skills, emphasis in STEM fields employability preferred

• Knowledge of data assessment, interpretation, evaluation, and reporting.

Skills:

• Proficiency in the use of computerized office systems and word processing tools

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Strong organizational skills

• Ability to multitask needs between multiple schools, and school district’s

• Knowledge of collaboration practices, team teaching practices, and special education

• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with school administrators, staff, students, and families.
