We are looking for 3 Project Managers in our Kansas City, Mo or Parsons, KS location.
Here are some details about this position:

Position Summary

Responsibilities include the onboarding of new customers, managing the sales order from inception through project completion. Creating and driving manufacturing, engineering, sourcing timelines, deliverables, and execution to successfully complete all jobs in the time frame requested by our customers. This requires successful concurrent management of multiple projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Main company point-of-contact with the customer, with the responsibility to keep other departments informed of project requirements, schedule changes, etc
  • Provide overall direction and responsibility for each project. The Project Manager has the responsibility for using the VMB to communicate information flows through the company to achieve on-time completion of all necessary work.
  • The Project Manager has the authority to request and manage workflow to assure timely completion of work in engineering and manufacturing. Negotiate and influence other departments as necessary to work through problems with the customer and/or internal resource problems that may inhibit our ability to meet customer needs.
  • Negotiate contract terms & conditions directly with the customer, including scope of work, staging area, schedule, etc
  • Fiscal responsibility and accountability to secure credible revenue in alignment with the projects as quoted.
  • Work with accounting to make sure that billings (invoices) for work completed are submitted to the customer in a timely manner. Also assist Accounting in collection activities as required.
  • Write and administer installation subcontracts where necessary.
  • Develop submittal, shipping, and construction target schedule dates for each project, through discussions with the customer.
  • Perform a complete review of each project’s plans & specs (including any addenda), to result in an accurate and complete “digestion” of the important parameters of the job requirements. Owner of the details.
  • The PM is ultimately responsible for the completeness and the accuracy of the information about the project in the system.
  • Schedule and conduct each project’s Design Kick-off Meeting (KOM).
  • Follow-up with other departments to make sure that target dates are or will be met for each of your projects.
  • Review submittal drawings in conjunction with the team engineer & detailer and prepare a comprehensive submittal cover letter as necessary for each project being submitted to the customer.
  • Track approval packages to make sure the customer returns them in time.
  • When approvals are returned, review the customer comments and red-lines for impact to CST.
  • Identify any changes to our scope of work.
  • Advise customer of the change in scope and what affect it has on CST.
  • As applicable, estimate the cost impact of the change; set the price; and pursue a Change Order with the customer.
  • Determine if any requested “confirms” have been left unaddressed by the customer, and if so, pursue timely resolution with the customer.
  • Update the VMB with any changes on a daily basis, based upon customer requests for schedule changes, receipt of approved drawings, shipment of jobs, construction start & completion dates, etc. to ensure that Project Manager-generated reports are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Follow-up with the customer to make sure that we have the most recent & accurate information on the status of “back from approval” dates; required ship / construction start & completion dates; and other project milestone dates.
  • Assist Sales & Account management with review of plans & specs for jobs they are bidding.
  • Attend the VMB Meetings, being prepared to advise the group of the status of each project.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Four-year college degree in a technical discipline. PMP certification is desirable.
  • Must have experience project managing industrial and/or construction type projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Organizational skills necessary to manage multiple construction projects simultaneously while maintaining or improving each project’s profitability.
  • Interpersonal skills commensurate with the need to interface effectively with external customers and to lead internal project teams to successful and profitable project completion.
  • Experience in managing sizeable construction projects as a Prime Contractor, a subcontractor, and/or as a vendor.
  • Familiarity with construction equipment and tools

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret technical plans and specifications.
  • Ability to understand and advantageously negotiate contract terms and conditions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole, fractional, and decimal numbers.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Handle problems involving variables in a standardized situation.
  • Ability to make decisions and know when/where to make concessions.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Advanced level of knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Walk, must be able to move about inside the manufacturing and office and occasionally on a construction site or outside of the manufacturing facility.
  • Use hands/fingers to feel, must be able to operate computers, machinery, dimensional equipment.
  • Sit and stand, must be able to work at a stationary desk that may require sitting or standing. Standing on concrete floor and uneven terrain will be required frequently.
  • Climb and balance, must climb stairs and ladders.
  • Stoop, kneel and crouch or crawl.
  • Talk/hear, must be able to communicate with operators and management frequently and exchange accurate information.
  • Lift and carry weights of 50lbs.
