We are looking for
Product DevelopmentManager in our Kansas City World Headquarters location.
Diverse, high visibility position that requires a solid mechanical engineering foundation and the ability to manage cross-functional teams through the product development process. Responsibilities include analysis and design of all electromechanical systems and leading new product development projects from concept to post launch, including design, prototyping, testing, cost/benefit analysis, etc.
Electromechanical systems including tank erection jacks, hydraulic controls, unloaders, pump systems, automated doors, and misc. components that complement bolted storage tanks. These systems include machine design involving pulleys, belts, gears, chains, sprockets, conveying screws, strength of materials, part stress analysis and sizing, motors, VFD’s, and control systems. Responsible for managing day to day engineering design submittal process, supporting sales, drafting, and manufacturing for all mechanical product quotes and orders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design and configuration of all mechanical and controls components for the unloader product lines
· Design and configuration of all mechanical and controls components for the slurry pump systems
· Design and configuration of all mechanical and controls components for the automatic door systems for the Harvestore product line
· Manage cross functional new product development projects, including an understanding of roles and responsibilities for marketing, sales, engineering, procurement and manufacturing
· Develop and maintain actions plans identifying tasks, resources and start/completion dates
· Maintains R&D budget and financial assessment for product development projects
· Create and present project status updates to executive management team
· Perform make versus buy analysis and an understanding of cost accounting
· Assist marketing and sales with identifying product requirements through market research and the voice of the customer.
· Willing to travel 20% of time
· Position located in Dekalb, IL or Kansas City, MO
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required
· Professional engineering license a plus
· Project management experience
· Experience developing and launching new products through a stage gate process
· FEA experience required (Solidworks Simulation and/or Autodesk Nastran In-CAD)
· Controls experience a plus
· Solid modeling & CAD experience (Solidworks and/or Inventor)
