BASIC PURPOSE: The primary responsibility of the Software Engineer- Front-end is to develop and execute exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality, design and implement tests, debug and define corrective actions, review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics (e.g. defect densities and open defect counts.), assess and advocate high quality across an increasing amount of customized user experiences while maximizing the engineering velocity of deployed changes. Be the subject matter expert on everything we test and build. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Work directly with project team members to deliver high quality software.• Primary responsibilities include proactive testing, finding new defects, reporting and analyzing them, and supporting software designers in corrective actions.• Design and create manual and automated test cases, test data and other necessary test assets.• Managing and tracking bugs/anomalies and verifying bug fixes.• Influence software design to maximize testability and automation potential and improve working methods.• Write test cases for assigned modules, build test systems and automate tests under the direction of senior automation test engineer or automation test architect.• Research and develop an understanding of the industry requirements for the product features being tested, including daily usage of the features and feature related performance, security and reliability requirements.• Draft, review and approve training materials for the testing team.• Coordinate and verify the work of offshore and onshore resources.• Embrace responsibility for the end-to-end quality of an existing product. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: • Reports to Senior Manager, Digital Applications QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / related engineering field OR equivalent experiencein related field• Experience testing Android and iOS apps a plus.• 5 years of experience with all aspects of software testing including test planning, functional testing, regression testing and designing test architecture.• Experience with Katalon Studio and Selenium Webdriver, test framework development, and web and mobile application testing.• Experience with JMeter or K6 performance testing tools.• Experience testing API and database levels of a product application.• Should have familiarity with one or more of the following: Java, JavaScript, JSON, XML, SQL, API, Amazon Web Services.• Ability to understand business and technical requirements.• Familiarity with Git code versioning tools.• Good written, verbal communication skills.• Great team player. CRITICAL COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS:Analytical Skills: Demonstrate aptitude towards analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to conceptually pull together patterns or connections that are not clearly related; ability to assess relevant facts, identify alternative approaches and provide the best course of action.
