Cristo Rey St. Viator College Preparatory is Hiring an Assistant Principal Near North Las Vegas, NV

Description

The Assistant Principal, in collaboration with the Principal, assumes responsibility for the quality of the instructional program. As such, the duties of the Assistant Principal span several areas (Instructional Leadership, Organizational Leadership, Staffing and Recruitment, School Culture, and Stakeholder Relationships), all within the context of the mission of CRSV, and the Catholic, Viatorian identity of the school.

The Assistant Principal collaborates with students, parents, and faculty & staff at CRSV to ensure students are prepared for success in college through a rigorous, college prep curriculum, and models professional and respectful interactions with other members of the school community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

School Culture

  • Foster and promote a school culture that values diversity and the unique gifts that all staff, students, and families bring to the school community; foster the creation of an inclusive school environment, and ensure that parents are welcomed and acknowledged as partners with the school; develop and implement strategies for meaningful and reciprocal family and community engagement.
  • Promote a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement, complemented by high levels of support.
  • Serve as a model of the school’s values and mindsets, and hold self and others accountable to maintaining high standards; actively promote the regular exchange of affirming and constructive feedback among members of the school’s staff.
  • Support an active co-curricular life of the school by coordinating the academic schedule to accommodate opportunities for students to develop their non-academic talents and interests

Student Behavioral Support

  • Develop and implement programs or personal counseling to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies that promote a culture of success and reduce student attrition.
  • Develop and implement family engagement initiatives to promote parent involvement at school and to support parent development, as it pertains to student academic success and character formation.
  • Develop systems and structures to limit the time spent on reactive student discipline through ensuring consistent implementation of research-based best practices in supporting high levels of student engagement. belonging and success in classrooms. 
  • Improve and implement the school’s discipline system and other structures necessary to promote student achievement and character development both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Maintain accurate discipline and behavior records, including producing contracts with students and parents and sharing weekly student discipline reports with the Principal.
  • Establish and maintain a strong culture of engagement, trust, and support with students, faculty, and parents/families through ongoing, proactive communication. 
  • In conjunction with the CWSP Director and the Principal, coordinate the school’s dress code and its implementation
  • Supervise the administration of the discipline policies of the school. Administer appropriate consequences for behavior including detention, Saturday detention, in-school suspension and out-of-school suspension. 

Instructional Leadership

  • Lead faculty members in reflective coaching conversations based on observations of instruction and lesson creation
  • Along with other academic leaders, create and deliver high-quality professional development to faculty based on institutional goals and observational data
  • Consult with Principal on staffing needs and participate in the interview process for prospective faculty and counseling candidates
  • Evaluate personnel and assist in the determination of goals to improve performance

Curriculum

  • Work with other academic leaders to establish and facilitate regular data meetings analysis, collaborative planning, and professional development
  • Work in a team with CWSP Director of Operations and Principal to complete academic scheduling
  • Work with school leaders to create and refine a four-year curriculum and master schedule to support a rigorous, college preparatory academic program
  • Assist and support faculty in the implementation of the Cristo Rey Network standards and benchmarks by reviewing and providing feedback on annual, unit, and lesson plans 
  • Represent the administrative team on district committees or initiatives as assigned

Student Achievement

  • Work with other academic leaders to analyze student testing data to anticipate academic needs and make recommendations concerning the instructional program, curricular, and academic support needs
  • Plan and manage opportunities to engage students and parents in supporting their student’s academic achievement (including Parent Orientation, Parent-Teacher Conferences, academic awards ceremonies, etc.)
  • With Principal and guidance staff, meet with parents of students who are on academic probation and create individualized student progress plans and contracts to promote achievement
  • Coordinate the celebration of student academic achievement 
  • Work with other academic leaders to refine and manage the school’s tiers of intervention strategies and programs to support student academic achievement 
  • Work in collaboration with the Registrar to ensure accurate management of student data
  • Work with other academic leaders to research and place students in appropriate summer academic and leadership programs
  • Administer summer school

Requirements

Required

  • Master’s Degree in an educational field
  • Experience in school leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with low-income, urban students and families
  • Proven background in curriculum design, teacher supervision, and data analysis
  • Demonstrated understanding of the college-going process

Preferred

  • Demonstrated commitment to Catholic education
  • Bilingual: fluency in spoken Spanish is ideal for direct communication with parents 
  • Background in designing and executing school improvement plans

Compensation and Benefits

This is a twelve-month (12) full-time position with benefits, including medical, dental, vision, supplemental insurance, and 403b plan. Compensation is based on education and experience.

 Cristo Rey St. Viator requires that all new hires provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 before beginning work.
