This is a Part Time position

POSITION SUMMARY
The Cook brings joy and purpose to seniors and is responsible for preparing hot and cold food items using various cooking tools, techniques and equipment and ensures that meal and service demands are met. Maintain a sanitary work environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS(General overview and may not include all details of responsibilities)
DUTIES
  1. Food Preparation
    1. Prepare assigned food by production sheets according to recipes and standards (some food prepared by nursing center kitchen for serving).
    2. Smell and taste all food that is being prepared.
    3. Prepare menu items on schedule and to customer satisfaction.
  2. Know and follow proper food handling and infection controls. Maintain sanitation standards.
  3. Know and follow essential food cost controls.
  4. Operate all kitchen food service equipment by following proper safety standards.
  5. Appropriately handle problems as they arise in the kitchen.
  6. Attend meetings as required and participate in continuing education programs.
  7. Work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers and residents.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
One year of experience in a long-term care facility or restaurant.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Current Washington State Food Handler's Permit
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
  • 18 years of age
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Able to use weights, measures and volume measurements in cooking.
  • Read, write, communicate in and interpret English at a functional level.
  • Perform in a team environment.
  • Adhere to CRISTA dress code.
  • Adhere to CRISTA’s policies, procedures and beliefs.
  • Able to work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers and residents.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONPrevious work experience in a CCRC.
