MAINTENANCE WORKER

JOB DESCRIPTION:

● To maintain schools and other facilities to the extent that students and employees can work in a healthy and safe environment.

● To work collaboratively with department and building administration.
● To foster an inclusive work environment maintaining high morale.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Complete Building and Grounds Maintenance to include:

● Electrical
● Masonry
● H.V.A.C
● Fabrication
● Repair
● Small Engine Repair
● Snow Plowing Have the Ability to Lift up to 50 Pounds
● Other duties as assigned

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Maintain and repair plumbing, electrical, locks and other general maintenance
● Assist with maintenance of athletic fields
● Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
● Distribute freight and school materials. Handle teacher and staff requests for stored teaching supplies and assistance.
● Maintain building grounds outside by cleaning up debris (e.g. glass, plastic bottles, cans, etc.), entrances, courtyards, trimming of shrubs, and removal of snow.
● Check the rooftop for debris, damage and any clogged drains on a daily basis.
● Painting
● Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets.
● Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.

● Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
● Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
● Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
● Wash accessible interior and exterior windows and clean blinds.
● Attend to emergencies when necessary.
● Attend safety meetings and other related meetings.
● Assist with inventory control and security.

● Safely operate all vehicles and other job-related equipment.
● Support and enforce all policies, such as MIOSHA, etc.
● Enforce and support policies established by the Maintenance/Custodial Supervisor
● Ability to read and follow directions. Positive interpersonal skills needed to enhance the team spirit of cooperation. Some skill in operating and maintaining equipment
● Perform all other duties as assigned by Operations Supervisor.

The employee frequently must squat, stop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs on to ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.

● The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails, and unloading trucks. Occasionally, the employee will seek assistance when lifting and/or moving anything over 50 pounds such as salt and bulk furniture. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay: From $20.41 per hour
