Summary: The Accountant supports financial operations at Crescent Community Health Center. The Accountant works in collaboration with various departments within the health center to ensure financial accuracy with a primary focus on maintaining the accounts payable system and maintaining inventory on all equipment

Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items.

  • Performs general cost accounting and other related accounting duties.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks and leaders.
  • Reconciles CCHC accounts and manages account receivables for specified areas, including Pharmacy.
  • Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Gathers necessary account information and documents to assist with the annual audit and other data requests.
  • Creates reports and presentations.
  • Participates in special projects.
  • Performs all job functions according to the mission and values of Crescent.
  • Maintains a cooperative, helpful work environment within the department, as well as, with other departments and employees
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding CCHC, its patients, and employees.
  • Works toward continuous quality improvement.
  • Stays current with changing best practices and technologies.
  • Upholds, supports, and promotes all company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned, to aid the Director of Finance and Revenue Cycle Management functions.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.

Education/Experience:

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training, required.
  • Previous accounting experience in a health care or non-profit setting, preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency with Microsoft Office Suite, e‐mail and a variety of web‐ based programs and browsers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft excel.

Language Skills:

  • Communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with all patients and staff.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,).
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • If certified, completion of credentialing and privileging requirements.

Pre-employment drug testing, physical, review of required immunizations and background check required.
