Cree Lighting is Hiring an Engineering Technician Near Racine, WI

Overview

The Regulatory Compliance Engineering Technician will primarily be responsible for setting up and performing a range of environmental, mechanical, optical, and electrical compliance testing on lighting products in a timely manner in support of Regulatory Compliance Engineering. The technician will also be responsible for laboratory test equipment operation, maintenance and basic calibration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare test samples for regulatory evaluation and testing purposes in accordance with published regulatory standards.
  • Build test fixtures in order to demonstrate “worse-case” scenarios for testing purposes.
  • Daily testing and monitoring of lighting products with special attention to detail and processes. Examples of testing include hypots, ground continuity, temperature measurements, physical tests and abnormal conditioning.
  • Offer technical input for departmental and customer documentation, equipment procedures and calibration procedures.
  • Maintain current details of relevant applications, hardware and support policies in order to provide technically accurate and fast responses and solutions.
  • Maintain technical logs, files and records, databases, test results, troubleshooting guides and spare parts inventories/lists.
  • Perform execution of certification, verification, calibration, Gage R&R, and preventative maintenance procedures on an ongoing basis for regulatory test and measurement systems and physical standards managed.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to technical and operational processes and procedures.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as required or requested from time to time.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates or Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology, or related subject preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with UL safety, EMC, and RoHS standards a plus.
  • Previous hands on experience as an Electrical and/or Electronics technician, Testing Lab Technician or good Mechanical background preferred.
  • Good technical writing and communication skills required.
  • Strong ability to analyze data and communicate results within a team setting.
  • Familiar with PC-based software tools (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Onsite full time.
