Credence Management Solutions is Hiring a Technical Writer Near Washington, DC

Overview

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), Security Management Division (SMD) is responsible for establishing policies, standards, and procedures to ensure the safety and security of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) personnel, facilities, information, and assets. OPR/SMD provides CBP with uniform standards and procedures for the proper administration of Physical Security; Safeguarding Classified and Senitive but Unclassified Information; Homeland Security Presidential Directive.

The contractor shall provide program management and security services support to OPR/SMD. The contractor shall collaborate and assist SMD personnel in the enhancement, expansion, modification, and development of security policy and administration functions, and develop risk analysis, procedures, and technical methodologies for the Information Security, Security Services, and Physical Security Programs. Program support activities include developing technical documents in coordination with subject matter experts, participating in stakeholder training (Operation Security, Safeguarding Sensitive But Unclassified Information) outreach throughout CBP, reviewing physical and information security program compliance and assessment documents, providing technical assistance, conducting programmatic and operational research, developing and maintaining task schedules and the development and evaluation of strategic planning processes, documents, and strategies.

Responsibilities

Tasks shall include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical support in security planning, programming and policy development activities. This may include development, research, review, and updating of CBP strategic planning documents. Key skills include technical writing, writer/editor, and analytical capabilities to assist Security Specialists and Analysts in developing security management directives, security programs and initiatives, security policies, and daily office correspondence.
  • Drafting issue papers and memorandums, point papers, letters for signature, agency correspondence, managing and tracking taskers.
  • Performing program management functions to provide expert advice, assistance, and guidance in support of management organizational and business improvement efforts.
  • Performing strategic, business, and action planning efforts to include assisting specialists with program implementation, tracking/evaluating performance measures and program effectiveness, examining policies, and providing strategic/analytical support.
  • Creating documents that comply with CBP standards on language, writing style, structure and format.
  • Updating, edit and improve existing documents based on current CBP writing standards, quality and style guidelines.
  • Writing various types of documentations such as Standard Operational Procedures, manuals, and forms.
  • Gathering information through thorough research, SME interviews and reviews of existing documentation.
  • Analyzing business processes to determine documentation requirements
  • Participating in project teams and make recommendations on the types of documents and information necessary to achieve business goals
  • Interfacing with the Executive Director, Director and Branch Chiefs to gain insight on how information is consumed by the audience and then determine efficient ways to present and deliver the information.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an active Secret security clearance with CBP access
  • BA/BS in a related field is required
  • 3 to 10 Years of relevant experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with Government and contractor personnel
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work well with different levels of authority, backgrounds, personalities, and experience.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain flexible work hours (work hours are consistent but occasional ad hoc requirements may necessitate flexible hours)
  • Ability to manage, prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of Tools (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Work as part of an integrated team with team members that are both locally and remotely located
