Overview

We’re looking for a Marketing Assistant with an interest in nonprofit work to join our team at The Cradle, a nonprofit child welfare organization that provides adoption services, counseling, and outreach & education. This is a great role for someone with a digital marketing background and strong writing skills who wants a diversity of experiences in marketing and communications and exposure to some of the complex tasks within the department.

Position Summary

As the Marketing Assistant, you will assist with the planning, execution, monitoring and tracking of marketing initiatives. As a member of the Marketing and Communications team, this position supports brand awareness, marketing to expectant parents and external event promotion.

The Assistant supports the day-to-day management of a robust marketing operation that includes email, social media and web platforms; print and content marketing; advertising; and internal communications. 

This role requires a sensitivity to and appreciation of the adoption journey, mental health, and cultural competency.

Essential Functions

• Create and provide internal education around branding and marketing best practices
• As directed, plan and execute marketing plans for awareness months, fundraising events, and other initiatives 
• Draft, post, and track social media campaigns 
• Assist with in-house graphic design work for both digital channels and print marketing
• Assist with print needs including interfacing with print vendors 
• Assist with upkeep of Cradle.org and Adoption Learning Partners websites
• Write regular content for Cradle blog
• Execute email marketing campaigns and assist with list cleanup and segmenting/targeting
• Manage and increase marketing asset library
• Support community outreach with materials, promotions, and photography as requested
• Track digital performance metrics and assists in the development of monthly and quarterly reports
• Provide customer service through social media direct messages and responsiveness to the agency’s website/email inbox 

Requirements

Demonstrated Experience 

• 1-3 years of related marketing experience required
• Demonstrated social media management experience
• Excellent time management skills, with ability to manage multiple projects
• Superior writing and editing communication skills
• Demonstrated graphic design experience and knowledge of graphic design programs
• Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to multitask in a collaborative, consensus-focused organization
• Familiarity with Wordpress, Google Analytics and social media insights preferred

Working Conditions and Hours

• Hours: Regular hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Initially requires a minimum of two days per week in-office. Our office is located at 2049 Ridge Avenue in Evanston.
• This position requires flexibility to occasionally attend evening and/or weekend meetings and/or events. 

Organization Requirements

• Staff must be fully vaccinated, have at least one booster shot, and provide evidence of vaccination status
• Masks are required
• All staff are required to undergo a background check, fingerprinting, and medical exam to meet DCFS requirements
