CPM Holdings, Inc. is Hiring an IT Help Desk Technician Near Waterloo, IA

This is an onsite position - remote working environment is not available

The CPM IT Team consists of three teams: Help Desk, Infrastructure, and Applications. As an IT Help Desk Technician on the Help Desk team you will be the first point of contact for end users who need technical support and you will need to be able to solve complex technical issues and escalate them to the Infrastructure or Applications teams as needed.

You will support the team on maintaining hardware, software, and monitoring the computer systems and networks for our business. You will also collaborate with team members from all of our business units around the world across all departments to assist them with their technical requirements.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitor support tickets via software and escalate support tickets to the correct individuals
  • Answer Technical Support phone calls
  • Assist users with setting up their computers and necessary peripheral devices (printers, docking stations, monitors, mice, keyboards, headsets, etc.)
  • Check computer hardware to ensure functionality
  • Install and configure appropriate software according to specifications
  • Image computers and set up new user accounts and profiles
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, installing drivers, etc.)
  • Notify Help Desk lead of any computer or equipment shortages
  • Work with the shipping department to package IT equipment and ship it to our other business units as needed as well as receive and unpack IT equipment from our suppliers
  • Keep the inventory in our IT storage area organized, stocked, and clean
  • Assist with writing documentation on technical subjects both for the IT team to use as references as well as for end users
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance from others
  • Assist with replacing old IT equipment on a regular basis
  • Assist the Infrastructure and Applications teams with projects as needed

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Minimum of an Associate degree from an accredited college in the field(s) of: Computer Science, Informational Technology or Management Information Systems (previous IT experience can be substituted for a degree)
  • Military Experience in IT also a substitute for an Associate degree

DESIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 operating system
  • Knowledge of Windows server, Active Directory, as well as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP a plus
  • Proven experience as an IT Technician or relevant position desired
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication ability
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively and work in a fast-paced environment
  • In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Ability to document IT problems and solutions for reference later
  • Ability to keep things simple and not overthink certain technical problems that require simple solutions

EXPERIENCE:

  • IT Support: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred)
