CPG Beyond is Hiring a Safety Specialist Near Ashburn, VA

POSITION SUMMMARY: The Safety Manager I works with and through management, to ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures and to assist in the achievement of profitability/productivity requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists, plans, and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Advises safety director on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
  • Plans and implements training for employees in work site safety practices.
  • Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures were indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
  • Assist with set up and conducts training. Maintains safety files and records.
  • Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
  • Assist and maintain environmental reports including Storm water permits, SPCC etc.
  • Prefer experience in OSHA, MSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory requirements.
  • Travel required-25%

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience (Desired):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Construction Management, or Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in EHS in the construction industry, preferably with data center construction or large projects.
  • Experience managing security personnel on projects.
  • Working knowledge of U.S Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and standards and other non-regulatory safety standards applicable to the location.
  • Working knowledge of 29 CFR1926. Knowledgeable with NFPA 70E and environmental compliance is a plus.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and can follow reporting processes. Communicate effectively with client safety team regarding incidents and other action items.
  • Experience writing JHAs, SOPs, EOPs, MOPS, Hazcom, technical reports and procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding Customer relations skills.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance is preferred.

Computer Skills:

  • Knowledge with experience using Microsoft Office

Certificates and Licenses:

  • BCSP certifications preferred (CSP, CHST, SMS)

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
