About the Lead Systems Engineer (Virtualization and Automation) Position As a Lead Systems Engineer, you provide effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure in a complex matrixed Enterprise and OT environment. You will perform technical research to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. A Lead Systems Engineer ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards. This position will maintain and configure existing systems in a manner that results in a fast, stable and secure environment. What You Get to Do: Responsible for systems planning, design, implementation, configuration, and support. Continually acts to improve systems reliability through preventive maintenance, feature enhancements, automation, and support contracts. Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures. Contribute to and maintain system standards. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Provide support as an escalation point from Tier 2 requests. Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale. Analysis and proposals for enhancements to enterprise environment and aid in the implementation of enterprise security solutions. What You Bring to the Table: Bachelor’s degree in related field of study, preferably Computer Science, from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education. Ideally, 10 years of experience with the VMware suite of products (vROps, Log Insight, Network Insight, VRA, VDI, Horizon, etc.) Extensive knowledge and experience in automating platform processes leveraging modern code practice (CICD) Experience with designing, deploying, and maintaining platform automation tools to be consume by end users and support staff. Experience developing consistent reporting on platform compliance, extensive knowledge in Container (Tanzu) design, support, deployment practices. Experience with design and validate site level DR strategy, very strong storage management skills/experience (Pure, Nutanix, Netapp, Hitachi). In-depth experience with of a broad range of hardware and software products (HP, DELL, Nutanix, Cisco UCS, SRM, Horizon). Able to work within heavily regulated, mission critical environments. Ideally, 10 years of Information Technology experience; with approximately 1 year of client facing support and ideally 5 years of enterprise system administration experience. Solid knowledge and experience with Windows Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Security, Group Policy management, Group administration, Site management, Permissions, etc. Knowledge and experience with various Back Office products e.g. Exchange, Skype, SharePoint, SCCM/SCOM, SQL Server, etc. Solid knowledge and experience with Linux, and experience with VMWare. Knowledge of configuration, implementation and monitoring for Azure or AWS environments. A security mindset and approach. Industrial controls systems specific experience such as HMI, OPC, or Historian. Certifications: MCSA, VCP, ITIL, and/or CITA. Experience with SAN technology including iSCSI and Fibre Channel.
