CP UNLIMITED is Hiring an Employment Specialist Near Brooklyn, NY

Constructive Partnerships Unlimited (CP Unlimited) operates an extensive community based living program, day habilitation programs, vocational services and community habilitation services. CP Unlimited focuses on giving people the personal, social, and vocational supports needed to live in their communities. Care coordination is provided to assist persons with disabilities and their families in gaining access to service and support appropriate to their needs. CP Unlimited also provides rehabilitation, nursing, vocational services, behavioral, dietary and Article 16 services including counseling, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.

Currently CP Unlimited is seeking a full time Employment Specialist to train people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to work in supported & competitive employment and volunteer positions in the Brooklyn location(s).

Specific duties for the Employment Specialist:

  • Assist in identifying appropriate employment and volunteer sites for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Provide job-related training for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 
  • Assist in developing worksite modifications (reasonable accommodations) as needed and work with families, clinicians and other people in the network of support to provide and gain support for people receiving services. 
  • Participate in the management of government benefit issues as they pertain to employment.
  • Collects data and maintains the people who receive services records that are mandated by federal, state and local governmental agencies. 
  • Arranges transportation to the work site and travel trains people who attend our program as needed.
  • Facilitates the social integration of the people who attend our program in the work environment.
  • Coordinates vocational services with agencies such as the Office of Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) and Office for People with Development Disabilities (OPWDD).

To Qualify:

  • BA degree in Human Services or a related field. 
  • One-year experience working with people with developmental disabilities, or traumatic brain injuries.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency. 
  • Willing to travel throughout the five boroughs as needed.
  • 2-3 years of related work experience is preferred.
