WHAT WE OFFER As a Research Scientist at our Research Center in Elgin, IL, this role will integrate, make available, and develop specialist knowledge in polymer/coating and adjacent area in order to solve problems in projects and assignments. Generates new concepts and innovations in the expertise areas. Supervises and absorbs externally generated knowledge within Covestro. Participates in projects with a convincing impact and initiates long-term developments using specialized area expertise. Has the ability to develop and refine simple physical models that predict product behavior in an application process or applied state. Work on R&D projects relevant to the fiber optics business. Contribute to R&D projects (as either a team member or team leader) leveraging your area of expertise: Design, implement, and document experiments to address business needs. Interpret data, point out trends, and make recommendations for future work. Prepare and present research reports to internal and external stakeholders. Participate in meetings with customers and use insights from the market to shape future work. Work together with a team of experts to define new approaches to industry problems. When applicable, work with the team to develop and file IP. Contribute to the culture of excellence at Covestro's Elgin R&D Center, embody the Covestro Behaviors, and actively contribute to our safety culture.
