The Account Manager II is a key operations link between the organization and both drivers and customers. The Account Manager II is a coach/mentor a group of experienced drivers and will achieve specific customer service and key company goals by coordinating and communication with the customer all related fleet activity to maximize utilization of drivers and company assets. The Account Manger II will directly manage the work of professional drivers, with authority to take actions and/or make recommendations that are given significant weight with respect to discipline, terminations, and other changes of a driver’s employment status, often requiring the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to significant business matters. The Account Manager II is responsible for P&L management, and may manage other non-drivers. The Account Manager II is responsible for one or more locations and/or dedicated accounts.
• P&L accountability for assigned account• Dedicated account performance management & reporting • Project management and implementation of strategic initiatives • Customer Service-Applies to internal & external customers • Monitor, Approve, & Streamline driver payroll. • Turnover management • Maintaining driver relationships • Promoting and supporting a Safety 1st culture
Fleet Management duties may include:• Track and trace the trucks in the morning and through the day.• Track and manage home time requests in accordance with accounts expectations.• Maintain positive and productive communication with drivers to deliver on time, prevent service failures, and reduce turnover.• Receive ETAs and PTAs and manage throughout the day.• Receive confirmations of load assignments.• Develop an effective working relationship with assigned professional drivers and understand the needs and performance of each professional driver. • Communicate and establish expectations for performance, conduct, and safety, and provide ongoing feedback for the professional driver.Customer Service duties may include:• Manage and solicit business from a specific or assigned number of customers by using daily available capacity.• Solicit freight from existing customer base when demand indicates.• Negotiate freight rates with customers that do not have contract rates.• Communicate with customers to maintain good miles as well as meet operational needs (Home time, safety, maintenance, etc....)• Commit to and receive detailed customer load information by telephone, fax, or electronic tendering. Input all load information into computer system accurately to ensure system integrity.• Monitor and trace loads so that follow-up can be made to customers regarding late pickups and or deliveries, as well as any other load changes that may occur.• Anticipate and facilitate problem resolution on load issues to meet or exceed total satisfaction of customers.• Assist in collecting and maintaining current customer information in the system.• Work with other internal departments to resolve customer or company issues when necessary.• Maintain good measurable items to indicate how well the team/account is performing.• Make sound decisions to increase revenue and decrease costs.Load Planning duties may include:• Decrease deadhead percentage and provide on time pickups for customers.• Manage utilization of trucks and trailer pools to ensure minimum amounts of available equipment.• Maintain and monitor customer commitments.• Increase on time home time percentage for drivers through proper planning.Other duties:• Compile and submit assigned reports and attend all meetings as required.• Follow established procedures and best practices to ensure consistency and quality.• Provide Training and Participate in Cross Training to ensure account coverage is maintained at a acceptable level at all times.
Knowledge Skills, and Abilities• Knowledge of driver payroll and/or ability to learn• Knowledge of DOT regulations and Driver HOS necessary• Ability to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Products• Ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically• Ability to organize well and handle multiple projects requiredEducation and Experience
• High School diploma required• Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 years equivalent experience in Business, Logistics, or other closely related field• 5 years Management experience or other similar leadership role• 1 years Transportation Industry Experience
