Overview

Cardiac Hospital Coordinator

Full time, 80 hours per pay period, Day shift

Specialties include cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, infectious disease, neurology, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, occupational medicine, orthopedic surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, primary care, pulmonology, reproductive medicine, rheumatology, sleep medicine and urology.

PositionSummary:

Performs a wide range of clerical and administrative duties for a cardiac physician practice. Requires clerical training or experience and some knowledge of the unit's operational procedures. May perform departmental support functions such as processing payroll, enter data into information systems, or other duties similar in nature.

Responsibilities

  • Types correspondence, reports, memoranda, letters and special projects as requested.
  • Coordinates consult calls to on-call provider dependent on patient status.
  • Organizes and check patient charts daily to ensure compliance.
  • Corresponds with patients of the practice via mail or phone to supply information at physician’s request.
  • Serves as inter-departmental communication resource.
  • Collaborates with the patient, physician and other care team members as part of a team based approach to overall patient care.
  • Coordinates patient lists for each Cardiology provider by designated time indicated by practice protocol.
  • Liaises with hospital to coordinate physician schedules (pt. add-ons, consults, rounding, etc.).
  • Assists in the coordination of direct admits.
  • Trains all in-coming clerical staff (phones, check in/out, scheduling (procedures and Diagnostics).
  • Assists with creation of provider on-call schedule.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.

Minimum Experience:

At least one (1) year of cardiac clinic administrative experience working directly with providers required. Knowledge of cardiac clinical terminology required. Experience using word processing (MSWord), spreadsheet (Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint) software.
