With 14-stories, 220 rooms, 2500 sq. ft. of meeting space & "The Bistro" restaurant, we are offering an opportunity for a Catering Sales and Conference Manager. Just a short commute away, we are conveniently located within close proximity to Boston North Station and all major highways.

Position Overview:

The Courtyard Boston Downtown North Station hotel is in search of a driven individual who will be focused on selling and executing meetings and events in the hotel’s brand new 2,500 square foot private event space. The ideal candidate will have a dynamic selling background, be results-driven, and have excellent knowledge of catering execution.

Essential Job Functions:

• Ability to travel to meet with or call individual corporate clients by telephone to solicit annual, week day and weekend business
• Meet and greet clients, conduct property tours, and promote facilities and services. Answers customer inquiries regarding property
• Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients
• Develop client menus, write contracts and letters, as well as organize all other arrangements as they relate to social and corporate events
• Supervise and execute the overall set up and implementation of events and meetings. Communicate with relevant departments to ensure proper servicing of accounts
• Prepare and present weekly and monthly Catering/Sales reports
• Ability to produce Banquet Event Orders for each catering function on property
• Supervise the set-up of function rooms to include placement of linens, silver, china and glassware according to event order specifications
• Visually inspect function rooms and equipment prior to functions for cleanliness, proper inventory, and set up
• Ensure guest service is within the standards of the hotel
• Ensure service standards are met throughout the Banquet operations team
• Verbally communicate, in a calm, positive demeanor, during the course of the function with the kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, and engineering staff, as well as the guest host to ensure timely execution of events, quality service and adherence to all applicable federal, state, local safety and health regulations and corporate standards
• Supervise clean-up of function room and proper breakdown and storage of equipment
• Enter billing information into point of sale/automated sales system in order to generate a final guest check. Process payroll for each event which includes calculating number of hours worked and gratuity distribution
• Resolve guest concerns/complaints; address root issue
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
• The employee may be expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description

Qualifications, Job knowledge, Experience, Skills, Abilities:

• College degree preferred in Hospitality or Business field and 3 years of experience in event execution
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic landscape.
• Strong ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, resolve conflicts, and multi-task.
• Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions.
• Must be available for evenings and weekends for business reasons including attending business/social functions, entertaining clients and oversight of sales & catering client bookings and events.
