REPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGER JOB SUMMARY: To assist in the management of the hotel, ensuring a high level of performance, guest satisfaction and profitability.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
1. Implement policies and controls on issues relating to operations, to include, cash/check/credit handling, energy conservation, guest services and amenities.
2. Develop and conduct effective training programs geared to enhance service and operations personnel.
3. Operate within budgetary guidelines and in response to actual business conditions.
4. Assist in the preparation of the annual hotel budget.
5. Attend meetings as scheduled and serve as a viable member of the hotel’s executive committee.
6. Prepare reports and other communications as needed and/or assigned.
7. Participate in the selection, discipline, appraisal and termination of operations staff. Complete the administrative duties associated with personnel and payroll matters in a timely manner. Ensure that all staff consistently adhere to uniform, grooming and appearance standards.
8. Adhere to safety, security and sanitation procedures, handle hotel equipment with care, act promptly to rectify hazards and assure staff same from all staff.
9. Participate in guest services activities as needed such as, performing front desk and guest services duties.
10. Manage hotel in the absence of the General Manager.
11. Ensure all AR accounts are kept in good standing.
12. Maintains good customer relations; resolves customer complaints.
13 Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager.
Additional Responsibilities:
APPEARANCE AND GROOMING: All staff members are required to follow the guidelines set forth by the associate handbook.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos, ability to write simple correspondence, ability to effectively present one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other staff members of the organization and hospitality community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
REASONING ABILITY: ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished written, oral, or diagram form, ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and ability to address customer personalities in various business situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a staff member to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, to handle and feel objects, tools controls and type; talk with and hear guests. The staff member is occasionally required to stand and walk. The staff member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The specific vision abilities required are close vision.
WORK ENVIRNMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a staff member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
