Counterpart International is Hiring a Business Development Proposal Manager Near Washington, DC
Overview
Counterpart International is seeking a Proposal Manager to join the New Business Development (NBD) team. The Manager will serve as a Proposal Manager on United State Agency for International Development (USAID), Department of State (DOS), and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Proposal Manager on key USAID and USDA-funded opportunities. This includes conducting in-country reconnaissance trips that informs the proposal design, manage and oversee the development of capture and the live bid, contribute to technical and non-technical writing of the proposal, and finalize a compliant and competitive proposal through to submission.
- Provide mentorship, training, and support to staff and consultants contributing to proposals.
- Contribute to providing information, data analysis, and intelligence to support Counterpart’s pipeline, pursuit decisions, and growth strategies.
- Support the revisions of Counterpart’s Proposal Manager tools and templates on a regular basis.
- Serve as the Acting Director of the NBD team as necessary, including facilitating the pipeline meeting, leading or participating in pursuit decisions, and providing regular updates at all staff meetings, among other responsibilities.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Public Policy, Public Management, or another relevant field.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience working in international development including program management, business development, and field experience. A minimum of at least 4 years of new business development experience and managing USAID, USDA, or DOS proposals
- Strong writing, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; self-motivated, detail-oriented, self-directed, and curious.
- Comfortable working and communicating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and under pressure against tight deadlines.
Preferred
- Master's degree in International Development, Public Policy, Public Management, or another relevant field.
- Experience using SharePoint.
- Familiarity with USG procurements.
- An understanding of USAID’s Democracy, Rights, and Governance or Food Security sectors.
