Property Accountant needed at Cottonwood Residential!

Position is remote.

Job Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain accurate financial records for multiple company-owned and managed multi-family residential properties. The Property Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly financial statements timely and accurately in accordance with the accounting policies and procedures. Other daily/weekly responsibilities include processing of mortgage payments, owner distributions, vendor payments and any other financially related items for their assigned properties. The applicant will be able to conduct themselves in a professional and friendly manner and be a proactive, self-starter with the ability to work remotely and under minimal supervision. It is important to exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, exhibit a high degree of flexibility, and to build strong relationships with other departments to accomplish tasks and achieve goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare and provide financial statements, bank reconciliations, and other accounting reports which have significant influence on the financial results of the Company.
• Month-end closing.
• Process and post mortgage payments.
• Monthly reconciliation of GL accounts.
• Post monthly accruals and reclassifications.
• Process and post monthly investor distributions.
• Process Resident refunds.
• Process vendor payments.
• Submit capital expense reimbursement requests to the lender.
• Submit yearly budgets and quarterly reporting to the lender.
• Yearly tax reporting for investors.
• Provide support to the Community Managers and Regional Managers for assigned properties.
• Assist with other duties as needed.

Additional Skills & Competencies:

• Ability to read, understand, and analyze financial statements.
• Proficiency in the MS Office suite, especially Outlook and Excel.
• Flexibility and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Experienced in problem solving, and able to follow a methodical implementation process.
• Ability to exercise poise, tactfulness, diplomacy, and good interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.

Education

• Associates Degree in Accounting

Experience

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in applied accounting, preferably property accounting.
• Entrata experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Constant need to remain in a sitting position for most of one’s scheduled workday.
• Constant need for visual acuity in small detail, beyond arm’s reach, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
• Constant need for talking and hearing to communicate with associates.
• Constant need to simultaneously use hand, wrist, and fingers to operate standard office equipment.
