Cosmax NBT is Hiring an Analytical Lab Manager Near Garland, TX

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet or exceed the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in analytical chemistry or chemistry (Required).
  • Five (5) years of previous management experience (Required).
  • Five (5) years of previous dietary/nutritional supplement lab experience (Required).
  • One (1) year of previous experience working as a chemist in biotech, food pharmaceuticals, or other cGMP regulated industry (Required)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards, (i.e.: FDA, EU, ICH, ISO, USP, AOAC).
  • Working knowledge of analytical chemistry, HPLC-UV/RI/PDA, GC-FID, ICP-OES, protein and fat analyzer, FT-NIR (Required).
  • Experience with Chromeleon and open lab (Highly Preferred).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assure that testing priorities support Manufacturing, Production and Customer Service schedules.
  • Ensure final data is complete and properly documented.
  • Responsible for ensuring finished product release from the analytical lab.
  • Follow up and communicate status of problems and schedule changes.
  • Develop contingency plans to avoid product discrepancies at pre-production stage and manage customer expectations.
  • Assure adequate communication of priorities exists between the analytical lab and other departments and within the lab from shift to shift.
  • Provide guidance to resolve problems with instruments, test methods, lab chemicals, standards, and samples.
  • Reviews and maintain knowledge of customers label specifications and testing procedures.
  • Assure that all raw materials, bulks, and finished goods are tested in accordance with customer requirements in a compliant manner.
  • Assure test failures are investigated and documented, and that corrective action is taken, by working with the laboratory leads, production leads, investigation Specialist or designated personnel.
  • Prepare justification for new lab equipment. Prepare purchase orders and coordinate authorization and procurement. Arrange installation and qualification.
  • Responsible for budget planning/CapEx for the quality Analytical group.
  • Evaluate new test methods, coordinate implementation of new methods.
  • Resolve test method problems which involve interaction with customers technical staff, respond to technical questions from customers about product issues, risk associated issues and product complaint.
  • Evaluate time and cost aspects of laboratory work associated with new products or new testing requirements.
  • Review and provide analytical technical support to process validation projects.
  • Assist in solving Manufacturing and Production problems.
  • Assure GMP compliance activities are performed in the laboratory.
  • Develop and implement ways to improve laboratory productivity, cost control and output.
  • Review and approved SOP’s, specifications, and other documentation required to administer the laboratory.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical product testing / Quality Control.
  • Knowledge and experience with Total Quality Management, Statistical Process Control, and other quality management philosophies.
  • Thorough understanding of USP testing methodology, analytical chemistry, Biochemistry and chemical and microbiological instrumentation and techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to use computers for word processing and data manipulation.
  • Ability to manage many diverse tasks and issues simultaneously, through prioritization, delegation, and “hands-on” personal effort in a fast paced, high volume environment.
  • Understanding of laboratory safety requirements and the MSDS system.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret technical data.
  • Ability to represent Cosmax NBT USA customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards (FDA, EU, ICH, ISO, USP) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with USP, EP, AOAC and other compendial test methods a plus.
  • Working knowledge of analytical chemistry, HPLC-UV/RI/PDA, GC-FID, ICP-OES, protein and fat analyzer, FT-NIR (preferred)
  • Strong computer knowledge is required including Microsoft Office and ability to learn relevant internal computer systems.
  • Ability to multi-task is essential and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to company growth and evolving responsibilities.
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to work well in a cross-functional, matrixed environment.
  • Experience with Chromeleon and Open lab a plus.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must possess strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Able to use logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems.
  • Takes initiative and seeks additional training or direction as needed.
  • Must be willing to abide by Cosmax NBT USA’s policies and procedures, including those that are safety-related.
  • Self-motivated individual willing to work hard, able to work in a group and alone, and be quality conscious.
  • Demonstrates a professional, team first attitude toward work and co-workers.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of tools and equipment.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Analytical Chemistry or Chemistry from a four-year college is (Required). MS degree in Analytical Chemistry is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management experience in the nutritional supplement/dietary supplement, food or pharmaceutical industries (Required).
  • Previous supervisory experience (Required).
  • Minimum of one-year experience working as a Chemist in Biotech, Food Pharmaceutical, Medical devise, or other cGMP regulated industry or equivalent academic research.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards (FDA, EU, ICH, ISO, USP) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with USP, EP, AOAC and other compendial test methods a plus.
  • Working knowledge of analytical chemistry, HPLC-UV/RI/PDA, GC-FID, ICP-OES, protein and fat analyzer, FT-NIR (preferred)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Manufacturing work environment. Constant physical activities are required for this position. Able to tolerate working environment with inside hot and cold temperatures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Activities include the ability to reach overhead, squat, and bend at the waist; the ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more; ability to climb up and down stairs throughout a shift; tolerance of standing posture continuously during shift; intense walking is involved. Dexterity for manipulating work materials; repetitive motion; proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English. Ability to respond to safety signals, such as those generated by forklifts.
