ACCOUNTANT (HYBRID –WASHINGTON, D.C.)

The Accountant is responsible for a wide range of accounting and accounting related activities, such as month-end close, account reconciliations, managing fixed assets, managing prepaid, and assisting with monthly financial reporting, annual budget process, and audit and tax documents preparation.

How You’ll Help Our Team Succeed

  • Prepare month-end close and recording of journal entries.
  • Prepare month-end financial reports and trend variance explanations.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and other balance sheet account reconciliations and roll forward schedules as assigned.
  • Maintain fixed assets in Sage Fixed Asset System (e.g. recording of depreciation, additions, transfers, disposals of fixed assets).
  • Manage prepaid schedules and monthly amortization to expense accounts.
  • Assist in annual financial plan preparation.
  • Assist in all external audits and annual tax returns document preparations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and strive to follow best practices to enhance the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of individual and team work product.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful 

  • 5 years of relevant working experience including 2 years of Accountant experience, in a professional services firm required.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office required. Superior Excel skills are required, including the ability to create templates, pivot tables, sum-if formulas, and VLookup.
  • Knowledge of the CMS (Aderant) is a plus.
  • Foreign currency experience a plus.
  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
